The 40-year-old singer split from ex-husband David Harbour in 2024 after he had an alleged affair, and close friends Miquita and Andi Oliver have opened up on how she has “rebuilt” herself.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Good Housekeeping UK magazine, Andi said: “You know, Lily nearly broke last year. She\u2019s been through absolute hell, and it\u2019s been extraordinary to see her rebuild herself.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m incredibly proud of her. Miquita nearly broke when she had to declare herself bankrupt but, like Lily, she rebuilt herself.”<\/p>\n
Miquita added: “It\u2019s not been easy for Lily. But we\u2019re still silly with each other, and I doubt the playfulness we had as children will ever leave us now.”<\/p>\n
\nFollowing the breakdown of her four-year marriage, the Smile hitmaker got help at a mental health facility, as well as working on a new album, being hospitalised and treading the boards.<\/p>\n
\nShe previously said on her Miss Me? podcast with co-host Miquita: “I’ve done quite a lot this year.<\/p>\n
\n“I’ve finished an album, I got a boob job, I had a nervous breakdown, I went into hospital for a bit, I came out, I did some podcasting for a while, then I played one of the hardest tracks in theatre and killed myself [in the role of Hedda Gabler] every night for seven weeks.”<\/p>\n
\nLily hints on her latest album West End Girl that ex David was unfaithful to her and admitted her experiences in her second marriage gave her a better understanding of the “pain” first husband Sam Cooper felt in their relationship.<\/p>\n
\nShe told The Observer newspaper: “[I’ve learned there are no] baddies and goodies in a marriage but, having done things that were not very nice in my first marriage, I have a better idea now of the pain I may have inflicted. <\/p>\n
\n“I\u2019ve learned how horrible it is to be on the receiving end of that.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nLily has found getting divorced “devastating” and has left her struggling to trust other people.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cIt\u2019s just sort of devastating, really. It keeps you up at night and costs a huge amount of money and just goes on and on and on. And I hate feeling like I can\u2019t trust anyone. But there\u2019s something about dealing with an ex-partner and lawyers that creates an environment of feeling like you can\u2019t trust anybody or anything.\u201d<\/p>\n
