Jaw-droppingly candid private messages were released by Lively\u2019s legal team in January 2026 ahead of her court showdown with It Ends With Us<\/em> director Justin Baldoni<\/strong>. What Is in Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni\u2019s Text Messages?<\/h2>\n

On January 20, 2026, Blake Lively\u2019s lawyers filed a letter to Judge Lewis J. Liman where they released batches of private text messages related to the It Ends With Us<\/em> dispute. These messages offered crucial insight into the power struggle that went on behind the scenes of the 2024 blockbuster.<\/p>\n

Much of the scrutiny into these text exchanges revolved around Lively opening up to her friend<\/a> Taylor Swift about her on-set battle with Justin Baldoni. On April 12, 2023, Lively asked Swift \u2014 who was identified in the messages as \u201cSender\/Recip Name Not Available\u201d \u2014 to praise her proposed script revisions to It Ends With Us<\/em> if she crossed paths with Baldoni during a meeting at the Gossip Girl<\/em> alum\u2019s New York City apartment that night.<\/p>\n

Lively referred to Baldoni as her \u201cdoofus director\u201d and \u201ca clown\u201d in her messages with Swift and later thanked her friend for being \u201cepically heroic\u201d after the encounter.<\/p>\n

\u201cI recapped every moment to Ryan. I kept remembering stuff \u2014 You making s*** up about me and lenses,\u201d Lively later wrote to Swift. \u201cAnd referring to yourself as my doll. This clown falling for all of it. But also resisting it. You are the worlds absolutely greatest friend. I won the lottery.\u201d<\/p>\n

This purported meeting took place on the same night as Lively\u2019s husband, Ryan Reynolds, allegedly confronted Baldoni<\/a> for speaking to his wife\u2019s personal trainer without permission. Baldoni\u2019s lawyers claimed in previous court filings that the conversation was \u201cso aggressive that Baldoni felt he had no choice but to offer repeated (and completely unwarranted) apologies.\u201d (Baldoni claimed that he only approached Lively\u2019s trainer because he wanted to avoid aggravating a back injury while shooting an It Ends With Us<\/em> scene where he\u2019d have to lift his costar.)<\/p>\n

In December 2024, Lively checked in with Swift \u2014 now identified as \u201cTaylor\u201d in the messages \u2014 about a potential shift in their friendship. Lively admitted she \u201cfelt like a bad friend\u201d and acknowledged that Swift must be \u201cphysically, emotionally, practically\u201d taxed after completing her Eras<\/em> Tour.<\/p>\n

Swift replied that Lively was \u201cnot wrong\u201d to sense a shift, though she brushed it off as \u201cnot a big deal.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s more like \u2026 and I feel really bad saying anything about this because your texts have been so nice in intent but your last few \u2026 it felt like I was reading a mass corporate email sent to 200 employees,\u201d Swift continued. \u201cYou said the word \u2018we\u2019 like 18 times. And it feels awful to be in any way critical of the way you process what you\u2019ve been going through but I just kinda miss my funny, dark, normal-speaking friend who talks to me as herself, not like a plural unit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Once the two had seemingly squashed the issue, Swift shared a People<\/em> article<\/a> about Baldoni titled \u201cJustin Baldoni Reveals He Was Sexually Traumatized By an Ex-Girlfriend When He Was \u2018Hoping to Save Myself for Marriage.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think this bitch knows something is coming because he\u2019s gotten out his tiny violin,\u201d Swift theorized.<\/p>\n

Swift asked whether \u201ceverything [is] still on track,\u201d seemingly in reference to Lively\u2019s planned legal action against Baldoni or a New York Times<\/em> article about the dispute.<\/p>\n

\u201cOh yes. A week later tho,\u201d Lively confirmed, with Taylor replying: \u201cHis own words, that\u2019s gonna be powerful \u2026 It\u2019s the only way to beat liars and hypocrites.\u201d<\/p>\n

Another set of texts between Lively and her It Ends With Us<\/em> costar Brandon Sklenar were sent in the months before the movie\u2019s release in August 2024. These messages include Lively calling Baldoni a \u201cmonster\u201d over their behind-the-scenes rift and refusing to allow him to actively promote It Ends With Us<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Shortly after It Ends With U<\/em>s arrived in theaters, Sklenar complained in August 2024 about the cast receiving blowback on social media over reports of tension on the set.<\/p>\n

These first few days have been torturous and up there with the worst of all of them. But I preface the below with the fact that I am actually okay. Jamey is more than OK. The filmmaker confirmed he\u2019d received a legal letter from \u201cthe studio\u201d citing \u201chow unsafe I and the workplace were\u201d for an unnamed female cast member presumed to be Lively.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Actor \u2026 won\u2019t return to work unless we meet 17 conditions and send her the unfinished directors cut of [the] movie,\u201d Baldoni alleged. \u201cAlso that she has been considering leaving the film and not returning to work because she has legal right to do so- we have responded and met the conditions and after she sees the film she will decide.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cPray for her soul. For light to fill it. I\u2019m staying as positive as I can. [I] know I have protection!! This is where being a Bahai matters. Can I send love, not be a victim or curse her, and still somehow show up and direct and act with kindness in my heart? All that\u2019s left for three weeks is our intense work together.\u201d<\/p>\n

As problems continued to mount, Baldoni wrote to his PR people that he felt \u201cbetrayed\u201d by It Ends With Us<\/em> author Colleen Hoover<\/strong> over their disagreements about the movie.<\/p>\n

When a PR person suggested opening up a \u201cdialogue\u201d with Hoover, Baldoni shot back, \u201cI\u2019m sorry I don\u2019t have the capacity just right now in this moment to be the bigger person and to do that. You have to remember that it was her betrayal that landed me in the hospital. It\u2019s been devastating to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Private text messages between Jamil and Baldoni\u2019s publicist Jennifer Abel<\/strong> included some harsh words about Lively.<\/p>\n

Us Weekly<\/em> obtained<\/a> an August 2024 text exchange between Jamil and Abel where they discussed Lively\u2019s alleged behavior on the set of It Ends With Us<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI want to officially incorporate nightmare c*** and demon c*** into my vocabulary; UNBELIEVABLE; She\u2019s doing this to herself,\u201d Abel wrote about Lively, with Jamil quipping: \u201cShe\u2019s a suicide bomber at this point.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jamil later dismissed Lively\u2019s public gesture of sharing a link to domestic violence resources via social media for being \u201cso cold.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jamil later accused Lively of putting on a \u201cbizarre villain\u201d act. An insider subsequently told Us<\/em> that it was \u201cdisappointing that instead of listening to women when they speak out, other women call them names and discredit them in defense of a fake male feminist.\u201d<\/p>\n

Amid the controversy over her messages, Jamil defended herself<\/a> and insisted her comments about Lively had no impact on her commitment to feminism.<\/p>\n

\u201cGuys, feminism means fighting for the political, social and economic equity of women, for women,\u201d Jamil said via her Instagram Story in January 2026. \u201cJust gender equity. It does not mean you have to like every single woman. It doesn\u2019t mean you have to be friends with every single woman.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jamil argued that feminists can \u201cactually beef with other women\u201d provided that they are still \u201cfighting for their human right to the same things that men have.\u201d<\/p>\n

How Is Stassi Schroeder Involved in Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Feud?<\/h2>\n

The Vanderpump Rules<\/em> alum spoke out in defense of Taylor Swift for calling Justin Baldoni \u201ca bitch\u201d in a December 2024 text message to Blake Lively.<\/p>\n

\u201cEveryone acting like calling a grown man \u2014 privately, in a text message with their best friend \u2014 a \u2018little bitch\u2019 is like the most egregious, nefarious, evil thing someone can do, are you joking?\u201d Stassi Schroeder<\/strong> asked via TikTok<\/a> on January 22, 2026. \u201c\u2018A little bitch?\u2019 That\u2019s like the bare minimum. That\u2019s nothing. That\u2019s nothing at all.\u201d<\/p>\n
