The 2026 Oscar nominations<\/a> are a golden opportunity: not only for worthy film professionals to get accolades, but also for movie lovers to assign themselves homework. (Hooray!) Below, we\u2019ve collected a comprehensive list of every film nominated at this year\u2019s Academy Awards. Some are still available to watch in a theater near you; others are streaming on Netflix, Prime Video, Apple TV, or various other platforms. The ceremony\u2019s not until March 15, so you have plenty of time to catch up. Just don\u2019t wait too long, because there will<\/em> be a test.<\/p>\n In The Alabama Solution,<\/em> shot largely on cell phones smuggled into a prison by its inmates, The Jinx<\/em> filmmaker Andrew Jarecki<\/strong> and co-director Charlotte Kauffman<\/strong> investigate systemic issues at Easterling Correctional Facility. This best documentary feature nominee, now streaming on HBO Max and Hulu with certain bundles, focuses on the sudden death of Steven Davis, an incarcerated man who was beaten to death by prison guards. His mother, Sandy Ray,<\/strong> seeks answers about her son\u2019s death alongside other prison reform advocates who appear in the doc. \u2014Savannah Walsh<\/em><\/p>\n Animated movies aren\u2019t just for kids\u2014but Arco,<\/em> nominated at the Oscars for best animated feature, is a particularly strong case study. The film, which is recommended for eight-year-olds and up, has all the hallmarks of a hopeful, thought-provoking film that will connect with a broad audience: Time travel! Robots! A kid who is Our Only Hope! What it also has is a starry voice cast, and even a boldface producer in Natalie Portman.<\/strong> Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Flea, Mark Ruffalo,<\/strong> and Andy Samberg<\/strong> lent their vocal talents to the movie, which premiered at Cannes and scooped up best animated feature (as well as a best-picture nomination) at the European Film Awards in January<\/a>. Arco<\/em> is still playing in theaters, but is also available for digital preorder on Apple TV and Amazon Prime Video. \u2014Kase Wickman<\/em><\/p>\n Don\u2019t put James Cameron<\/strong> in a corner. Avatar: Fire and Ash,<\/em> the third film in the legendary auteur\u2019s Avatar<\/em> franchise\u2014starring last year\u2019s best-supporting-actress winner for Emilia P\u00e9rez<\/em> Zoe Salda\u00f1a<\/strong>\u2014made over a billion dollars at the box office (and counting), and also scored two Oscar nominations: one for best visual effects, the other, a somewhat surprise nomination for best costume design for Deborah L. Scott.<\/strong> If you haven\u2019t kept up with the Navi lately, then you\u2019re going to have to make your way to your nearest cineplex: Avatar: Fire and Ash<\/em> is not yet available on any streaming platforms. \u2014Chris Murphy<\/em><\/p>\n Lorenz Hart got the last laugh after all. Richard Linklater<\/strong>\u2019s ode to the famed yet troubled Broadway lyricist picked up two nominations: a best original screenplay nod for writer Robert Kaplow,<\/strong> and one for lead actor Ethan Hawke<\/strong><\/a>.<\/strong> It\u2019s Hawke\u2019s fifth career nomination, but, shockingly, his first in the lead actor category. (He has two supporting actor nominations for Training Day<\/em> and Boyhood,<\/em> and two screenplay nominations for Before Sunset<\/em> and Before Midnight<\/em>). Blue Moon,<\/em> which made Vanity Fair<\/em>\u2019s best movies of 2025 list<\/a>, is in theaters and available to stream on Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. \u2014C.M.<\/em><\/p>\n Playing a pharmaceutical executive kidnapped by a conspiracy-addled beekeeper<\/a> (Jesse Plemons<\/strong>), best-actress nominee Emma Stone<\/strong> continues her long-running and fruitful collaboration<\/a> with director Yorgos Lanthimos<\/strong> in Bugonia,<\/em> which is also up for best picture. Screenwriter Will Tracy<\/strong> (a Vanity Fair<\/em> alum!) was nominated for best adapted screenplay for his work on this social satire, a remake of the 2003 South Korean black comedy Save the Green Planet.<\/em> British composer Jerskin Fendrix,<\/strong> who also got an Oscar nod<\/a> for his work on Lanthimos\u2019s best picture\u2013winning Poor Things,<\/em> snagged another nomination for his grandiose and creepy synthesizer-laden score. Bugonia<\/em> is streaming on Peacock and Prime Video, and is available for rent on Apple TV and YouTube. \u2014Erin Vanderhoof<\/em><\/p>\n With this surprise best documentary feature nomination, standup comic Tig Notaro<\/strong> becomes a first-time Oscar nominee in her role as producer on the film, now streaming on AppleTV. Come See Me in the Good Light<\/em> tells the story of two poets in love, Andrea Gibson and Megan Falley,<\/strong> as the former battles incurable ovarian cancer. Singer-songwriters Sara Bareilles<\/strong> and Brandi Carlile,<\/strong> who also serve as executive producers on the doc, were also short-listed, though not nominated, in the best original song category for cowriting the song \u201cSalt Then Sour Then Sweet\u201d with Gibson before her passing. \u2014S.W.<\/em><\/p>\n Sara Khaki<\/strong> and Mohammadreza Eyni<\/strong> co-directed this documentary feature, which follows Iranian Sara Shahverdi<\/strong> as she becomes the first woman elected to her small, rural village\u2019s council. Shahverdi rejects traditional garb and rides around the countryside on a motorcycle as she tries to convince a generation of young women to continue their education. Executive produced by a team that includes documentary legend Shelia Nevins<\/strong><\/a>,<\/strong> this timely film about women struggling for freedom in a patriarchal society won the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize when it premiered at the Sundance Film Festival last year. The movie isn\u2019t currently streaming, but that could change now that it has gotten an Oscar nod. \u2014E.V.<\/em><\/p>\n Legendary singer and songwriter Diane Warren<\/strong><\/a> has now been nominated 17 times in the Oscars\u2019 best original song category. Her latest entry comes with a surreal metafictional twist: nominated song \u201cDear Me\u201d comes from Diane Warren: Relentless<\/em>, a documentary portrait of Warren featuring testimonials from Cher,<\/strong> Common,<\/strong> Jennifer Hudson,<\/strong> and more. Warren, who was presented with an honorary Academy Award in 2022<\/a>, has taken her losing streak in stride, laughing that she is \u201cconsistent as fuck<\/a>\u201d and having a good time at the show regardless. The doc, directed by Bess Kargman,<\/strong> is available for rental on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play, YouTube, and Fandango at Home. \u2014K.W.<\/em><\/p>\n Never count out Disney-Pixar at the Oscars. The studio\u2019s latest release failed to capture critics<\/a> or audiences\u2014its $35 million global debut marked the worst opening for a Pixar film<\/a> to date\u2014but voters nominated Elio<\/em> for best animated feature anyway. If you missed this one: Elio (voiced by Yonas Kibreab<\/strong>) is a space-obsessed 11-year-old being raised by his Air Force major aunt, Olga (last year\u2019s best-supporting-actress winner Zoe Salda\u00f1a<\/a>), whose dream of getting abducted by the aliens comes true. Perhaps Elio<\/em> will fare better on streaming, where the film is available to rent or watch for free with a Disney+ subscription, and rent on YouTube, Prime Video, and Apple TV. \u2014S.W.<\/em><\/p>\n Vroom, vroom. F1<\/em>, the big-budget picture that brought one of America\u2019s fastest-growing sports obsessions<\/a> to the big screen<\/a>, filled its tank with four nominations at the 2026 Oscars: best picture, best editing, best visual effects, and best sound. The Joseph Kosinski<\/strong>\u2013directed movie follows a once-promising journeyman driver (Brad Pitt<\/strong><\/a>) mentoring an up-and-comer (Damson Idris<\/strong>) who was probably still sleeping in a race car bed by the time Pitt\u2019s character began burning rubber as a career. If you\u2019re ready to start your engine, F1<\/em> streams free with an Apple TV subscription, or is available to rent on Prime Video, YouTube, and more. \u2014K.W.<\/em><\/p>\n It\u2019s alive! Guillermo del Toro<\/strong>\u2019s Frankenstein<\/em> has emerged as one of the strongest Oscar contenders, picking up nine nominations\u2014including best picture, best adapted screenplay for del Toro, and best supporting actor for Jacob Elordi,<\/strong> as well as a slew of below-the-line categories. (As a bonus: get ready to see Academy Award nominee Elordi all over ads for season three of Euphoria.<\/em>) If you want to see del Toro\u2019s critically acclaimed Mary Shelley adaptation, you can just fire up Netflix. It\u2019s been streaming there since November 7. \u2014 C.M.<\/em><\/p>\n Last year, best director nominee Chlo\u00e9 Zhao<\/strong> told Vanity Fair<\/em><\/a> that she had grand Oscar ambitions for her emotionally charged adaptation of Maggie O\u2019Farrell<\/strong>\u2019s novel, which imagines the family life of William Shakespeare (Paul Mescal<\/strong>) following the tragic loss of his young son, Hamnet (Jacobi Jupe<\/strong>). Best actress nominee Jessie Buckley<\/strong> is a major contender for her earthy, raw portrayal of Shakespeare\u2019s wife, Agnes. The film embeds its characters in a creative reimagining of Elizabethan period pieces, with costume design nominee Malgosia Turzanska<\/strong> drawing on the color of blood<\/a> as inspiration for Anges\u2019s garments. Max Richter<\/strong> also got a nomination for his score, which samples<\/a> old-fashioned instruments like the viol and hurdy-gurdy. The film\u2014which was also nominated for best picture, best adapted screenplay, best production design, and the new best-casting category\u2014is still playing in theaters. \u2014E.V.<\/em><\/p>\n \u201cI didn\u2019t want to fuck it up,\u201d Rose Byrne<\/strong> told Vanity Fair<\/em><\/a> last fall about playing a mother struggling<\/a> to raise her sick child in a film inspired by writer-director Mary Bronstein<\/strong>\u2019s caretaking experiences with her own daughter. It appears Byrne stuck the landing with Academy voters, earning her first Oscar nomination for playing a therapist on the brink of her own mental collapse in If I Had Legs I\u2019d Kick You.<\/em> The film is still playing in theaters and available to rent on platforms such as Prime Video, Apple TV, and YouTube. \u2014S.W.<\/em><\/p>\n This Palme d\u2019Or\u2013winning thriller, a co-production between Iran, France, and Luxembourg, had major Oscar buzz coming out of Cannes last May. Written and directed by Jafar Panahi<\/strong> (known for his clandestine 2011 documentary This Is Not a Film),<\/em> the story follows released political prisoners seeking revenge after a chance roadside meeting. It Was Just an Accident,<\/em> which was nominated for best international feature and best original screenplay, is currently playing in limited release and available for purchase on YouTube, Apple TV, Prime Video, Google Play, and Fandango at Home. \u2014E.V.<\/em><\/p>\n Some people just don\u2019t learn their lesson. The seventh installment in the Jurassic Park<\/em> franchise once again finds<\/a> ambitious paleontologists retrieving DNA from dinosaur fossils. They\u2019re working for a pharmaceutical company to create new drugs; once again, things go terribly\u2014and bloodily\u2014wrong. Of course, purebred dinosaurs are hard to come by in SAG-AFTRA, so the film\u2019s visual effects team had their work cut out for them\u2014leading to an Oscar nod for the movie in the best-visual-effects category. Jurassic World Rebirth<\/em> is available to stream with a subscription on Peacock, or to rent on YouTube, Apple TV, and Prime Video. \u2014K.W.<\/em><\/p>\n Three young women have to save the world from demon takeover on the strength of their good vibes, sick dance moves, and infectiously catchy songs. What, like it\u2019s hard? The viral animated hit movie<\/a> has achieved a cultural takeover\u2014showing us how it\u2019s done done done<\/em>, as the gals of Huntr\/x would say\u2014and was rewarded with two Academy Awards nominations: best animated feature and best original song for the earwormy \u201cGolden.\u201d (The movie won both of these categories at the 2026 Golden Globes<\/a> in January.) Kpop Demon Hunters<\/em> streams free on Netflix with a subscription, in both sing-along and standard formats. \u2014K.W.<\/em><\/p>\n After his yakuza boss father is murdered, Kikuo (Ryo Toshizawa<\/strong>) becomes an apprentice to famed kabuki actor Hanai Hanjiro II (Ken Watanabe,<\/strong> The Last Samurai<\/em>) to learn the ancient Japanese art form, eventually becoming an onnagata<\/em><\/a>,<\/em> a male actor who plays female roles. \u201cIn its true form,\u201d Watanabe\u2019s character notes<\/a>, kabuki theater \u201cis stronger than guns and swords.\u201d Last year, the film broke Japan\u2019s record for highest grossing live-action film, bringing in $120 million<\/a>, and while it missed the mark for best international film, it was nominated for best hair and makeup award. Distributed by GKIDS Films, Kokuho<\/em> is currently in limited release, but should be arriving on streaming platforms soon. \u2014E.V.<\/em><\/p>\n Little Am\u00e9lie or the Character of Rain<\/em> animates Am\u00e9lie Nothomb<\/strong>\u2019s autobiographical novel about her childhood growing up abroad. Directed by Ma\u00eflys Vallade<\/strong> and Liane-Cho Han,<\/strong> the best animated feature nominee is set in the early-1970s and follows Am\u00e9lie, a Belgian girl born in post-war Japan, and her journey of self discovery. You can watch Little Am\u00e9lie<\/em><\/a> on Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home. \u2014C.M.<\/em><\/p>\n The latest from Captain Phillips<\/em> and Jason Bourne<\/em> filmmaker Paul Greengrass<\/strong>, now streaming on Apple TV, is a tense thriller about a school bus driver (Matthew McConaughey)<\/strong> and an elementary school teacher (America Ferrera<\/strong>) who battle to save 22 schoolchildren from the 2018 Camp Fire\u2014the deadliest and most destructive inferno in California history. The film\u2019s fiery imagery earned it a best visual effects nomination at the Oscars. Greengrass, who co-wrote the script with Mare of Easttown<\/em> writer Brad Ingelsby,<\/strong> told Vanity Fair<\/em><\/a> that it was \u201cdistressing\u201d to watch actual flames ravage the Pacific Palisades and Altadena shortly after filming on the movie wrapped. \u201cWe were looking at what we’d created, and then seeing what was going on, and they were the same images, really.\u201d \u2014S.W.<\/em><\/p>\n It looks like all those orange blimps<\/a> and viral streetwear jackets<\/a> promoting Marty Supreme<\/em> (Christmas Day) paid off. If you\u2019ve yet to experience Gwyneth Paltrow<\/strong>\u2019s luminous return to acting<\/a>, or don\u2019t yet recognize the name of Odessa A\u2019zion<\/strong><\/a> just yet, Marty Supreme<\/em> is still playing only in theaters after its widely-advertized Christmas Day release. \u2014S.W.<\/em><\/p>\n This protest film was co-directed by its main subject, Pasha Talankin,<\/strong> an elementary school teacher who is forced to plan a dramatic escape from Russia after he becomes a whistleblower against Russia\u2019s propaganda machine. Made in collaboration with director David Borenstein<\/strong> (Dream Empire, Can\u2019t Feel Nothing),<\/em> the documentary provides a unique view into the impact the war on Ukraine has had on the everyday lives of normal Russians.
