Alexander Skarsgard clarifies sexuality comments<\/p>\n
Speaking at the Zurich Film Festival last year, about his role as charismatic biker gang leader Ray, who embarks on a dominant\/submissive relationship with the younger Colin (Harry Melling) in Pillion, Skarsgard – who has a two-year-old son with girlfriend Tuva Novotny – left fans confused with his remarks.<\/p>\n
According to Variety, he said at the time: \u201cI found that in this case, it\u2019s not really relevant what my background is. I mean, I do have a kid, but what I\u2019ve done in the past, who I\u2019ve been with, men, women\u2026 To me, what was important was that this felt like an opportunity to tell a story about a subculture I hadn\u2019t seen portrayed this way \u2013 with so much authenticity.\u201d<\/p>\n
However, he has now insisted that he was not making a revelation about himself, but was simply talking about the movie.<\/p>\n
He explained to Variety in a new interview: \u201cOh. That it resonated with my past? It was definitely not an intended statement. I don\u2019t know what I was talking about. Maybe it has to do with – there\u2019s a lot of focus sometimes on me as an actor. Maybe it was trying to shift the focus more to the story and these characters. And the importance of telling the story like this.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nWhen asked if he thinks Pillion is a love story, he said: \u201cI don\u2019t want to answer that. I have thoughts on it. But I think it\u2019s a very relatable relationship story, with different beats of a relationship, except in a very specific subculture that\u2019s foreign to most people.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nSkarsgard also revealed how life has changed for him since becoming a father, as he now prefers to be at home with his son rather than travelling for work.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cBefore parenthood, I lived on the road. I love that aspect of the industry – you\u2019re a traveling circus. But now, I need to balance that with family life and making sure I can be present for my kid. I can\u2019t be as selfish and narcissistic as I was before.\u201d<\/p>\n
