David Beckham<\/strong><\/a> is weighing in on social media just one day after his son, Brooklyn Peltz Beckham<\/strong><\/a>, shared a scathing Instagram statement about the family.<\/p>\n During an appearance on CNBC\u2019s Squawk Box<\/a> on January 20, the 50-year-old soccer star offered a measured, yet cryptic take on social media, warning that it can be a space where \u201cmistakes\u201d happen.<\/p>\n \u201cI have always spoken about social media and the power of social media. For the good and for the bad,\u201d Beckham said. \u201cThe bad we\u2019ve talked about with what kids can access these days, it can be dangerous.\u201d<\/p>\n He added, \u201cWhat I have found personally, especially with my kids as well, [is] use it for the right reasons. I\u2019ve been able to use my platform and my following for UNICEF. And it has been the biggest tool to make people aware of what\u2019s going on around the world for children.\u201d<\/p>\n Brooklyn, 26, eldest son of David and Victoria Beckham<\/strong><\/a>, addressed the family\u2019s long-standing feud in a six-page Instagram statement on Monday night. The former photographer accused his parents of controlling public narratives about the family.<\/p>\n \u201cFor my entire life, my parents have controlled narratives in the press about our family. The performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n Brooklyn, who married model and heiress Nicola Peltz<\/strong><\/a>, 31, in April 2022, also claimed that Victoria Beckham interfered with his wedding, saying she \u201ccancelled making Nicola\u2019s dress\u201d and \u201chijacked\u201d his first dance with his new bride.<\/p>\n \u201cShe danced very inappropriately on me in front of everybody. I\u2019ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n The bride, Peltz, wore a custom Valentino gown at the ceremony. However, the designer dress had been in the works for a year, according to Peltz\u2019s stylist Leslie Fremar<\/strong>, who told Vogue<\/em><\/a>, \u201cIt was the ultimate couture experience,\u201d including two trips to Valentino\u2019s Rome headquarters and fittings in the U.S.<\/p>\n Six months after the wedding, Peltz told Variety<\/em><\/a> that she had wanted to wear a dress by Victoria Beckham, but the studio could not make it in time. \u201cShe didn\u2019t say you can\u2019t wear it; I didn\u2019t say I didn\u2019t want to wear it,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n Just three years after their first wedding, Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their vows in an intimate Florida ceremony. Unlike the 500-person 2022 wedding, the vow renewal was attended by fewer than 20 people\u2014and no members of the Beckham family.<\/p>\n \u201cWe wanted to renew our vows so we could create new memories of our wedding day that bring us joy and happiness, not anxiety and embarrassment,\u201d Brooklyn wrote on Instagram.<\/p>\n Adding to the controversy, a wedding guest has confirmed<\/a> Brooklyn\u2019s claim that Victoria Beckham behaved inappropriately during the first dance. Stavros Agapiou<\/strong><\/a>, who attended the Palm Beach wedding with his partner, British DJ Fat Tony, commented on Instagram, \u201cI was there and she did, he\u2019s telling the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n After deleting the comment, Agapiou later posted, \u201cGood on him for finally speaking out!\u201d<\/p>\n The Beckham family has yet to publicly respond to Brooklyn\u2019s explosive statements.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
