Brooklyn Beckham<\/strong><\/a> has issued a scathing statement<\/a> featuring multiple allegations against his famous parents, David Beckham<\/strong><\/a> and Victoria Beckham<\/strong><\/a> \u2014 including the claim that the pair attempted to \u201cbribe\u201d their son into signing away the rights to his name before he said \u201cI do\u201d to wife Nicola Peltz Beckham<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWeeks before our big day, my parents repeatedly pressured and attempted to bribe me into signing away the rights to my name, which would have affected me, my wife, and our future children,\u201d Brooklyn, 26, claimed in his social media statement shared via Instagram Stories on Monday, January 19.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey were adamant on me singing before my wedding date because then the terms of the deal would be initiated,\u201d he further alleged in the upload. \u201cMy holdout affected the payday, and they have never treated me the same since. During the wedding planning, my mum went so far as to call me \u2018evil\u2019 because Nicola and I chose to include my Nanny Sandra, and Nicola\u2019s Naunni at our table, because they both don\u2019t have their husbands. Both our parents had their own tables equally adjacent to ours.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBrooklyn Beckham\u2019s ongoing feud with his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, has made headlines for years. Brooklyn married his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, in April 2022. Rumors soon began to circulate that Nicola and Brooklyn\u2019s mother had a falling out over a wedding gown \u2014 an allegation Brooklyn tried to stymy. \u201cThey\u2019re always going to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While David and Victoria\u2019s estranged son did not elaborate further, Brooklyn was likely referring to what is commonly known as \u201cNIL\u201d rights<\/a>, or the \u201cright of publicity.\u201d These rights protect a person\u2019s ability to control and profit from the commercial use of his or her name, image, likeness and other personal characteristics.<\/p>\n

These rights are often a necessity for those in the public eye, including athletes, celebrities and social media influencers \u2014 however, any person has the right to assert their ability to publicly claim their identity should it be used without his or her consent.<\/p>\n

According to Montana law firm Worden Thane P.C., NIL rights can include a person\u2019s name, nicknames, any former names, image, likeness, voice and even their signature. Even gestures or phrases that are original to a person, the law firm adds, can fall under an individuals\u2019 NIL rights.<\/p>\n

In the same social media statement, Brooklyn confirmed that he does \u201cnot want to reconcile<\/a> with my family\u201d amid their ongoing feud. (David and Victoria are also parents to sons Romeo,<\/strong> 23, and Cruz<\/strong>, 20, and daughter Harper<\/strong>, 14.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not being controlled,\u201d he continued. \u201cI\u2019m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n
