Buffalo Bills defensive tackle Jordan Phillips<\/strong> does not agree with the NFL team\u2019s decision to fire head coach Sean McDermott<\/strong> following their playoff loss to the Denver Broncos<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis s*** here is so stupid honestly sickening,\u201d Phillips, 33, wrote via his Instagram Story on Monday, January 19, alongside a post about Dermott\u2019s dismissal. \u201cThe best coach I\u2019ve ever been around.\u201d<\/p>\n

Phillips went on to repost a graphic highlighting the Bills\u2019 accomplishments since McDermott, 51, took over as head coach in 2017.<\/p>\n

\u201cRecord: 106-58. Net points: +795. 5th most points scored. 3rd fewest points allowed,\u201d the post read.<\/p>\n

Another one of the Bills\u2019 defensive tackles, DaQuan Jones<\/strong>, also took to his Instagram Story on Monday to react to the news.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t make sense but ya got what ya wanted,\u201d Jones, 34, wrote.<\/p>\n

Bills safety Damar Hamlin<\/strong> spoke out in defense of McDermott too, writing on X, \u201cA True Leader Of Men. Thank You For Everything! On & Beyond The Field. We Love You Coach.\u201d<\/p>\n

The team\u2019s starting quarterback, Josh Allen<\/strong>, has yet to publicly address McDermott\u2019s ouster via social media.<\/p>\n

Bills owner Terry Pegula<\/strong> announced earlier on Monday that McDermott had been let go from the team, less than two days after their 33-30 overtime loss to the Broncos<\/a> in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs.<\/p>\n

\u201cSean has done an admirable job of leading our football team for the past nine seasons,\u201d Pegula, 74, said in a statement released by the Bills. \u201cBut I feel we are in need of a new structure within our leadership to give this organization the best opportunity to take our team to the next level. We owe that to our players and to Bills Mafia.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cSean helped change the mindset of this organization and was instrumental in the Bills becoming a perennial playoff team. I respect all the work, loyalty and attention to detail he showed for this team and the community. I wish Sean, [his wife] Jamie and his family all the best.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pegula shared that the Bills\u2019 general manager, Brandon Beane<\/strong>, will now serve as the team\u2019s president of football operations.<\/p>\n
