Controversial columnist Piers Morgan<\/strong><\/a> is setting the record straight on whether alcohol played a role in his recent fall that left him hospitalized with a new hip.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot a great morning for our good friend Piers Morgan, who \u2014 although I have to say he is recovering well in the hospital, that was the picture he posted on instagram \u2014 he has a new hip,\u201d Good Morning Britain<\/em>\u2018s Susanna Reid<\/strong> announced live on air on Monday, January 19, shortly after Morgan, 60, called out the crew for not discussing the \u201cbig news\u201d that he has been hospitalized after falling at a London restaurant.<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, um, good luck with your recovery. I think he\u2019s going to be in the hospital for a few days as he recovers,\u201d Reid, 55, continued. \u201cI did offer to turn up with grapes, but he says he has enough to open a vineyard. So I was rebuffed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cDidn\u2019t he fall over at a restaurant?\u201d fellow GMB<\/em> host Kate Garraway<\/strong> asked. \u201cDo we have evidence if vineyard production was involved in this falling? Was he partaking in a glass or two?\u201d<\/p>\n

While Reid replied that she was \u201cnot sure how much of the vineyard had been imbibed\u201d before Morgan fell, the Piers Morgan Uncensored<\/em> host confirmed via his Instagram Stories<\/a> later on Monday morning that he was sober when he fell.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo clarify, ZERO alcohol was involved in the incident,\u201d Piers wrote over a clip of the show, adding a crying laughing emoji.<\/p>\n

Morgan revealed he\u2019s currently in the hospital on Sunday, January 18, sharing a selfie from his bed and providing a brief and at times comical timeline of events that led to a fractured leg and hip surgery.<\/p>\n

On Instagram, Morgan also shared a photo of the X-ray showing exactly where his femur was fractured. The commentator circled the break, which appeared to be located close to the acetabulum, where the femur and the hip connect.<\/p>\n

In the comments section, Morgan admitted that the \u201cshame of it all is worse than the pain,\u201d adding that he felt like a \u201csack of potatoes\u201d when he fell.<\/p>\n
