Billy Bob Thornton<\/strong><\/a> is clearing the air over his future on Landman<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Thornton, who plays oil executive Tommy Norris in the hit Paramount+ show, shut down speculation that he is leaving the Taylor Sheridan<\/strong> drama<\/a> after its second season, which wrapped on Sunday, January 18<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It appears rumors began circulating about Thornton\u2019s role going forward after his character was fired as president of M-Tex Oil by the company\u2019s owner, Cami Miller, played by Demi Moore<\/strong><\/a>, in the penultimate episode of season 2.<\/p>\n

In an interview with USA Today<\/em><\/a> published on Saturday, January 17, Thornton, 70, called rumors of his exit \u201cAI-generated crap.\u201d<\/p>\n

Thornton told The Hollywood Reporter<\/em><\/a> in an interview on Sunday that \u201cit has been surprising\u201d to see the show continue to exceed expectations.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t really realize that the show was going to go up in popularity that much,\u201d he shared. \u201cIt was already the hugest show with the first season, and then the next season, I think they call it \u2018viewable minutes\u2019 \u2014 they went up like 262 percent. I\u2019m not great at math, but I thought, how is that possible? I thought there was only 100 percent and then you can\u2019t go any further!\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cBut it was really great doing season two because in the first season, the world was introduced. And with the second season, now that everybody knows who everybody is, you could delve deeply into the relationships. I thought that was very smart of Taylor to do that, because to do another season that started and ended with an explosion would just be repeating yourself.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s like, \u2018Okay, we get it. That\u2019s what this show is. Every week will be a dangerous moment with an oil rig,\u2019\u201d Thornton continued. \u201cI thought he was very smart about saying, \u2018For the second season, let\u2019s concentrate on the family. Let\u2019s show more about the executive end of the oil business with Demi\u2019s character and Tommy becoming president.\u2019 I quite enjoyed doing more character stuff that didn\u2019t involve the excitement.\u201d<\/p>\n
