What is more meta than a movie within a movie? How about a movie within a movie based on a TV show about a bunch of guys making movies in Hollywood<\/a> where the executive producer is actually the inspiration for the protagonist?<\/p>\n That\u2019s essentially the plot of HBO\u2019s\u00a0Entourage<\/i><\/a>, the franchise inspired by Mark Wahlberg<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s rise to stardom. The HBO series, created by Doug Ellin<\/strong><\/a>, won several Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe awards and its subsequent film garnered $49.3 million at the box office.<\/p>\n Entourage\u00a0<\/i>premiered on HBO in 2004, introducing viewers to movie star Vincent Chase (Adrian Grenier<\/strong><\/a>) and his main crew of supportive pals (Kevin Connolly<\/a>, Kevin Dillon<\/a>, Jerry Ferrara<\/a> <\/strong>and Jeremy Piven<\/strong><\/a>). The\u00a0Devil Wears Prada\u00a0<\/i>star<\/a> plays the main character who attempts to balance friendship and personal gain<\/a> in Los Angeles alongside the latter four stars.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was certainly a different time,\u201d Grenier recalled his experience on set during a\u00a0GQ Australia<\/i><\/a>\u00a0interview in November 2020. \u201cWe wouldn\u2019t have been able to get away with the same things today that we did on the show. I\u2019m glad that we got it done when we did.\u201d<\/p>\n He continued: \u201cI could have used a little more Vince in my life, actually. But I\u2019m happy to say that I was able to play a role and then transition back to myself. \u2026 I was making documentaries in Mexico when I got the role<\/a>, so it was quite a change.\u201d<\/p>\n The entourage of\u00a0Entourage\u00a0<\/i>was much larger than just the five main guys that fit on the poster<\/a>. The cast also consisted of other stars \u2014 including Debi Mazar<\/strong><\/a>, Constance Zimmer<\/strong><\/a> and\u00a0Emmanuelle Chriqui<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>\u2014 who\u2019ve made memorable cameos on the HBO drama<\/a>.<\/p>\n Nearly four years after the award-winning series wrapped, the Hollywood crew reunited for a cinematic followup<\/a> \u2014 set mere days after the finale\u2019s cliffhanger scenes.<\/p>\n \u201cWe shot wide format from the beginning, like it was on a big screen,\u201d Grenier told\u00a0The Independent\u00a0<\/i><\/a>in June 2015. \u201cFans watched four or five episodes in a row. The only difference [for the movie] is that we\u2019ve cut out the beginning and end credits.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cOne of the things I like about this [project] is that it\u2019s about how you bring up your neighbors and your friends<\/a> and your family, how you support them. Even though it seems that the theme is about indulgence and materialism, it\u2019s really not. It\u2019s about supporting your friends.\u201d<\/p>\n
