Patrick Mahomes<\/strong><\/a> knows the Kansas City Chiefs are going to look significantly different next season.<\/p>\n

While attending a press conference on Thursday, January 15, the star quarterback said he\u2019s thinking about what the team\u2019s coaching staff could look like after a disappointing 2025-2026 season, specifically speaking on the status of offensive coordinator Matt Nagy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Nagy is a hot commodity for many teams looking to fill a vacant head coaching position, and has already interviewed with the Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Las Vegas Raiders and Tennessee Titans.<\/p>\n

While Mahomes said he doesn\u2019t want to see Nagy leave for another team, he acknowledged that the former NFL Coach of the Year has earned the right to a head coaching position again.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, there\u2019s names out there, but with how many vacancies there are at the head coaching job, you have to let that all play out to see how you build the staff,\u201d Mahomes said. \u201cI know Coach (Andy) Reid<\/strong> \u2014 if Nagy is able to get another head coaching job, that he\u2019ll have a good plan of who he wants to bring in.\u201d<\/p>\n

Nagy spent four years as head coach of the Chicago Bears, from 2018 to 2021, before joining Reid and Mahomes in Kansas City. He earned the 2018 NFL Coach of the Year Award in his first season with the Bears, after a 12-4 campaign that came with an NFC North championship.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Mahomes went on to say that his priority as quarterback is to have a coordinator who \u201cloves football\u201d and \u201cwants to give everything they can to win.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cBut for me, I just want someone that loves football, that cares about football, wants to give everything they can to win, to hold people accountable, and then to bring new ideas every single day,\u201d Mahomes said. \u201cThat\u2019s something that we have to continue to do if you want to continue to be great in this league, is you have to continue to evolve and get better and better and that\u2019s something that we\u2019ll try to do here and I want to get back to that winning culture of being accountable to each other and going out there and playing great football every single day, practice or game.\u201d<\/p>\n
