Ben Affleck<\/strong><\/a> is not shy about stripping down in his new movie The Rip<\/em>, in which he stars alongside his longtime best friend, Matt Damon<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

However, Affleck, 53, isn\u2019t taking his shirtless scene too seriously, as he defended showing off his body \u201cfor no reason\u201d during an interview with The Fox 101.9\u2019s \u201cFifi, Fev & Nick\u201d<\/a> on Thursday, January 15.<\/p>\n

Australian Rules football star turned radio host Brendan Fevola<\/strong> jokingly trolled the actor for unnecessarily shedding his clothes as he asked him, \u201cNow, who would win in a fight? Because Ben, when you took your top off at the start of the [movie] for no reason \u2026 jeez, you\u2019re ripped up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Damon, 55, erupted in a fit of laughter at the comment before Affleck clapped back in good humor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a reason! I want people to see it. I don\u2019t go to the gym for nothing,\u201d he joked. \u201cI\u2019m middle-aged. I\u2019ll take all the \u2026 you know. It\u2019s going away. I want it memorialized before it\u2019s gone.\u201d<\/p>\n

Damon had another theory as to why his Good Will Hunting<\/em> collaborator stripped off his shirt on screen, joking, \u201cIt\u2019s called actor vanity.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pair also touched on the shirtless scene in an interview with Entertainment Tonight<\/em> <\/a>the same day, with Damon roasting his friend yet again.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe changed his shirt for a scene in this movie and, boy, did they tweak the lighting for a long time on that bathroom \u2014 just shadows, just getting everything just perfect for him,\u201d Damon said.<\/p>\n

Seeing the funny side of the scene, Affleck joked it was a crucial plot point that added to his character\u2019s development.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it was important to see the character change,\u201d he teased. \u201cI think that\u2019s what made the part dramatically interesting there, was that he had a shirt that was dirty and then he had to put a clean one on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Damon sarcastically added, \u201cMakes total sense in the middle of the day.\u201d<\/p>\n

Affleck went on to explain that he didn\u2019t take cues from Damon, who also showcased his ripped body for his upcoming film The Odyssey <\/em>when it came to dieting.<\/p>\n

Damon previously revealed he followed a gluten-free diet to get in shape for the movie, but Affleck revealed in the ET<\/em> interview that he opted to go in a different direction to achieve his chiseled physique.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be honest, I can\u2019t do the gluten-free thing. I feel like the one thing I can\u2019t live without is bread \u2014 like, rolls, you know? Maybe it just makes me a caveman, but that\u2019s really hard,\u201d he told the outlet.<\/p>\n

Although they enjoy taking jabs at one another in good fun, Affleck and Damon have a solid bond thanks to their four-plus decades of friendship, which began when they grew up together.<\/p>\n
