Fans love that Heather Gay<\/strong><\/a> keeps it real and speaks her truth both on and off camera \u2014 especially when it comes to her weight-loss journey and using GLP-1s to see results.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am focused on how I feel,\u201d Gay, 51, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> while promoting her partnership with Atkins<\/a> while still using GLP-1s.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Real Housewives of Salt Lake City<\/em><\/a> star claimed she \u201cnever\u201d looked at the number on the scale before or after she started using Ozempic in 2023.<\/p>\n

Gay insisted that how much she weighs is the \u201cleast important thing\u201d to her now. However, she confessed to Us<\/em> that she plans to keep using GLP-1s to maintain her slimmer figure<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019s part of my daily routine as much as I have, you know, nutritional choices to support it,\u201d the reality star said of the weight-loss drug. \u201cThis is working for me, and I\u2019m just grateful to be here.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gay confirmed in November 2023 that she had started taking Ozempic<\/a>, a semaglutide developed to treat type 2 diabetes, that has become a popular weight-loss drug over the past few years.<\/p>\n

While she said she didn\u2019t see results right away, the Bad Mormon<\/em> author stuck with GLP-1 medication. Gay revealed during a September 2024 episode of RHOSLC<\/em> that she\u2019d lost 25 pounds<\/a> with the drug\u2019s help.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHeather Gay isn\u2019t holding back her feelings about using Ozempic for weight loss, despite being an advocate for self-love over the years. \u201cYou represented body positivity and now some women are saying it\u2019s kind of a copout,\u201d ABC News\u2019 Deborah Roberts says in Us Weekly\u2019s exclusive first look at the docuseries, IMPACT x Nightline: The [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Fast-forward a year, and Gay told Us<\/em> that in her 50s she feels \u201csuper comfortable\u201d in her body \u201cfor the first time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel healthy every day. I feel like I am taking care of my body. And for my whole life, I\u2019ve just been trying to, like, work around my body,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n

Gay noted that in addition to GLP-1s, she has turned to Atkins, \u201cthe industry pioneer of the low-carb movement,\u201d to find the right balance of nutrition and protein intake to maintain a healthier physique.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been an amazing partnership for me. I have Atkins red nails, which is kind of indicative of how much I\u2019ve absorbed it into my life,\u201d Gay told Us<\/em> with a laugh. \u201cThis is a new chapter for me, like being comfortable in my body and maintaining my weight and kind of having so much attention on it<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Bravo personality<\/a> explained that using Atkins shakes and protein bars has been a way to \u201csupport\u201d her healthier lifestyle.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wasn\u2019t going to, like, become a naturalist. I am who I am, and I really needed snacks and foods that would help me maintain this new lifestyle [and] fit with what I want to eat and what I enjoy doing,\u201d Gay said. \u201cAnd keep things authentic to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

As Gay has lost weight, she told Us<\/em> she\u2019s become more comfortable in her skin<\/a> \u2014 which she hopes will resonate with other women as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just thought I had to accept how I looked and where I was at and that there was nothing I could do about it. I felt absolutely powerless,\u201d Gay confessed. \u201cI\u2019ve tried every diet in the book. I\u2019ve always been aware of [my size]. If I wasn\u2019t aware of it, other people made me aware of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

She recalled thinking that either she was going to talk about her body \u201cbecause I\u2019m being shamed for it,\u201d or people would talk about her shape while \u201cbeing shamed for using GLP-1s.\u201d<\/p>\n

Weight-loss drugs, however, are part of Gay\u2019s \u201cjourney,\u201d and it\u2019s something she has fully embraced.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been just grateful to have, like, a way to maintain my lifestyle and still support my nutritional choices. Still [eat] healthy, and give my body what it needs,\u201d she said, pointing to the combo of GLP-1s and Atkins. \u201cBecause the last thing I want to talk about is, you know, how much I weigh. I have so many more things that are exciting and important to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Gay noted, \u201cI want to use this platform to help other people realize, first of all, it\u2019s not impossible. And second of all, there are things out there that can really support you along the way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now that Gay has put in the work and accepted all of herself, she said it\u2019s time to tell others.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor the first time in my life, I\u2019m really super conscious of everything that\u2019s going into my body, and I really find that I need protein to maintain my shape and to keep me going throughout the day, and fiber helps me feel better,\u201d Gay said, explaining how Atkins has been so instrumental in her day-to-day. \u201cIt\u2019s really hard to eat within, like, what your body wants and my hunger now.\u201d<\/p>\n

She joked, \u201cI\u2019m not going to eat cardboard. Everyone knows that about me, but I still want to look good. I\u2019ve worked really hard to get here, and I want to keep that going.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Gay told Us<\/em> she is happy<\/a> to have less weight on her body, it\u2019s the ability to \u201cwear the clothes that I want to wear\u201d that has brought her the most joy.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat seems so shallow, but I had gotten over what I looked like a long time ago. I had gotten over what I had to overcome, what people assumed about me, what the jokes people made \u2014 like, that\u2019s part of the gig, and I worked past that in my life,\u201d she shared.<\/p>\n

Gay recalled wanting to wear certain clothes that \u201cweren\u2019t in my size\u201d and how that was \u201ca little bit of a heartbreak for a girl that loved fashion and loved clothes.\u201d<\/p>\n

After losing weight, that all changed. \u201cThat has been probably the most amazing thing, to see an outfit and to be able to buy it and to have it fit,\u201d she gushed.<\/p>\n
