Best Medicine<\/em> begins in the aftermath of Josh Segarra<\/strong>\u2018s onscreen split from Abigail Spencer<\/strong>, setting the scene for Mark\u2019s \u201chot guy summer.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think Mark is looking in the mirror every morning telling himself, \u2018Let\u2019s go, hot guy summer,’\u201d Segarra, 39, quipped during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly<\/em>. \u201cThere\u2019s a very fun reveal where I think all the available women in town are lining up [to date him]. I believe he is trying his best to get over the love of his life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Segarra teased that it wouldn\u2019t be easy<\/a>, adding, \u201cOff we go. We\u2019re in the casual phase to make sense of the heartbreak. It had to be a really deep love. There\u2019s a saying that is like, \u2018The humor in it all is that you\u2019re trying to get through the pain.\u2019 So we\u2019ll definitely see him try to figure his way out of this stage in his life.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cPart of that is meeting some new people. That\u2019s what I would tell him \u2014 if he was sitting right here next to me. I would say, \u2018Hey Mark, come on man. You got to get out there. You got to go on a couple dates. You have to make some new memories and see how they go. Maybe a new shoe will fit.\u201d<\/p>\n

Best Medicine<\/em> follows a doctor (Josh Charles<\/strong>) who \u201cmoves from the city of Boston, Massachusetts, to a small practice in the East Coast fishing village where he vacationed as a child,\u201d according to the official synopsis. The small town of Port Wenn<\/a> is filled with a wide variety of residents, including Sheriff Mark and his now-ex-fianc\u00e9e, Louisa (Spencer).<\/p>\n

\u201cOptions are limited but he\u2019s a man in a uniform,\u201d Segarra noted. \u201cHe\u2019s got something to offer.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spencer also spoke with Us<\/em> about what to expect<\/a> as the season plays out.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverybody loves Louisa. She\u2019s the town schoolteacher. I would say she\u2019s also the town\u2019s tempest,\u201d she teased to Us. \u201cLouisa has always played by the rules, done the right thing and she\u2019s kind of shaken things up by calling off her eight-year engagement with the sheriff.\u201d<\/p>\n

Spencer hinted that Louisa\u2019s recent decisions will be \u201cdisruptive to the town\u201d of Port Wenn, adding, \u201cIt\u2019s fun to see her in an interesting pivot in her life. It makes space to maybe meet someone new. \u2026 But there is inherent conflict in the fact that they just broke up and then constantly see each other all the time because that is how small the town is.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cAlso they are best friends, so I think it\u2019s painful. They love each other and they\u2019re like two peas in a pod. But they just might not be the right fit for each other romantically.\u201d<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, Segarra expressed excitement about getting to see more of Mark.<\/a><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWho doesn\u2019t love a good love story? Girl falls in love with boy, then falls in love with his best friend too, for example. The love triangle has been a frequent plot point in TV and film for years, but there is maybe no more iconic angsty trio than the one between Dawson (James Van [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cHe loves his job. I think that he\u2019s very good at his job. But I will also say that he has a little bit too much fun at his job,\u201d he shared. \u201cHe doesn\u2019t even have a gun so I don\u2019t think that Port Wenn is necessarily the toughest, which is why he loves it. He just gets to have a little bit more fun. He gets some cats out of the trees and I don\u2019t think there are too many noise disturbances. But he\u2019s a fixture in the town and you will see him get a little down and dirty this season. You\u2019ll see him really click into his element that he has been preparing for his whole life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Segarra had a blast bringing Mark \u2014 and Port Wenn \u2014 to life.<\/a><\/p>\n
