Derek Hough<\/strong><\/a> and sister Julianne Hough<\/strong><\/a> share a special connection which, according to Robin Wright<\/strong><\/a>, can look a lot like marriage.<\/p>\n

While attending the 2026 Golden Globe<\/a> Awards at Los Angeles\u2019 Beverly Hilton on Sunday, January 11, Wright, 59, spoke to Derek, 40, on the red carpet about her confusion over the siblings\u2019 relationship.<\/p>\n

\u201cWait, you\u2019re the brother of Julianne, I love her,\u201d the Girlfriend<\/em> star said to Derek as he interviewed her for ExtraTV<\/em><\/a>. \u201cCan I tell you something? When I first saw her dance, I was like, \u2018They\u2019re married.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Derek accepted Wright\u2019s admission with grace, reassuring her that \u201cI\u2019ve got that sometimes,\u201d before she gushed over the pair. \u201cYou guys are amazing together. I follow you guys on Instagram and watch you guys move,\u201d Wright told Derek, referring to the frequent joint dance videos with Julianne, 37, shared via their respective Instagram accounts.<\/p>\n

Wright\u2019s confusion comes after Julianne, who works as the host of reality dancing TV series Dancing With the Stars<\/em><\/a> alongside judge Derek, recently admitted that fans have also been confused<\/a> over their dynamic in the past.<\/p>\n

While interviewed for a September 2025 episode of the \u201cChicks in the Office\u201d podcast, Julianne explained that she and her brother were tasked to perform a rumba together by Carrie Ann Inaba<\/strong>, one of Derek\u2019s fellow judges, while taking part in a live DWTS<\/em> tour. (A rumba is a Latin dance also referred to as a dance of \u201clove.\u201d)<\/p>\n

Julianne recalled, \u201cOur names in the program were \u2018Derek and Julianne Hough,\u2019 so everybody thought we were married and we were doing this rumba. When people found out we were brother [and] sister, I remember there was one venue \u2026 and we just heard, \u2018That\u2019s just wrong!\u201d<\/p>\n

Two months later, the siblings opened up<\/a> about their relationship exclusively to Us Weekly<\/em>. During a November 2025 interview, conducted just ahead of DWTS<\/em>\u2019 20-year anniversary episode, the duo reflected on how much they\u2019ve enjoyed working together. (Julianne danced as a pro for five seasons and judged for another five seasons before serving as cohost with Alfonso Ribeiro<\/strong>, while Derek spent 17 seasons as a pro before becoming a judge.)<\/p>\n
