Tom Welling<\/strong><\/a> is loving life outside of Hollywood.<\/p>\n In a new interview, the 48-year-old Smallville<\/em> actor opened up about his and wife Jessica Rose<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s decision to move out of Los Angeles to raise horses on a ranch.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span>Tom<\/strong> told People<\/a><\/em> that he and his wife took their son on a trip to North California in 2020 when they decided it was time to leave Los Angeles amid the COVID-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n \u201cL.A. was wild at the time,\u201d Tom<\/strong> said. \u201cThere were no cars on the street, you couldn\u2019t go anywhere. People weren\u2019t leaving their homes. Our first son was starting to crawl and we only had this tiny deck for him to play on. There was this thought of, we don\u2019t know if we can be here anymore.\u201d <\/p>\n During their trip, they saw a ranch with two homes on it and fell in love.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought, \u2018This is what I want in five years\u2026 so why not just do it now?\u2019\u201d he recalled.<\/p>\n Tom<\/strong> went on to joke about being being famous will living in a small rural town.<\/p>\n \u201cNo one bothers you in a small town. Everyone\u2019s famous in a small town,\u201d he said with a laugh.<\/p>\n Despite no longer living L.A., Tom<\/strong> hasn\u2019t left the entertainment industry. He currently hosts the Smallville<\/em> rewatch podcast TalkVille<\/em> with former co-star Michael Rosenbaum<\/strong><\/a>, who played Lex Luther. He will also be starring in the new comedy Chasing Summer, which comedian Iliza Shlesinger<\/strong><\/a> wrote.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was so fun to shoot. Everybody wanted to be there,\u201d Tom<\/strong> said of the movie. \u201cAll the decisions were made right there on set, it was collaborative, and it just reminded me why I love this job.\u201d <\/p>\n While he\u2019s not filming he\u2019s busy raising his family \u2013 he and Jessica<\/strong> welcomed their second son<\/a> in June 2021 \u2013 and working on his wife\u2019s business breeding sport horses.<\/p>\n \u201cWe have American sport horses, jumpers, and we breed,\u201d Tom<\/strong> explained. \u201cI\u2019m more than happy to help, but she\u2019s the captain of that ship,\u201d <\/p>\n As for his life on the ranch, Tom<\/strong> said, \u201cIt\u2019s peaceful.
