Although the pair appeared in 2015\u2019s Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, Ford\u2019s Han Solo was killed off before the movie introduced Hamill\u2019s exiled Luke Skywalker, and the 74-year-old actor has now admitted he wishes his Jedi master was given the opportunity to reunite with the smuggler in Disney\u2019s new trilogy.<\/p>\n

When asked which actor he most wanted to work with during a recent instalment in The Hollywood Reporter\u2019s Roundtables series – which also featured Adam Sandler<\/a>, Dwayne \u2018The Rock\u2019 Johnson, Jacob Elordi, Michael B. Jordan and Jeremy Allen White – Hamill said: \u201cWell, in the sequel trilogy, Harrison Ford. <\/p>\n

\u201cCause I only had two cameos, and the middle one we never \u2026 Aren\u2019t we gonna have a moment where all three of us [including Carrie Fisher’s Princess Leia] get together and raise the roof? It\u2019ll only take 30 seconds.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Long Walk actor added he had spoken with The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams about Luke Skywalker crossing paths with Han Solo, but his plea seemingly fell on deaf ears.<\/p>\n

\nHamill continued: \u201cAnd J.J. said, \u2018Well, Mark, it\u2019s not Luke\u2019s story anymore,\u2019 and I said, \u2018Star Wars wasn\u2019t Obi-Wan\u2019s story, but Alec Guinness had a crucial \u2026 You know. Anyway, nobody listens to me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nBoth Hamill and Ford would once again appear in 2019\u2019s Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, though an on-screen reunion between the pair still did not happen.<\/p>\n

\nHamill has long voiced his grievances about the characterisation of Luke Skywalker in the sequel trilogy, particularly in 2017\u2019s Star Wars: Episode VIII – The Last Jedi, and revealed he had shared his concerns with director Rian Johnson before agreeing to play the Jedi master as he was written in the script.<\/p>\n

\nDuring an appearance on the Bullseye with Jesse Thorn podcast, he said: \u201cI told him [Johnson] this – despite the fact that I disagree with your choices for Luke, I\u2019m going to do everything within my power to make your screenplay work as best as I can. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cAnd the only thing unfortunate about that is, I\u2019ve heard comments from fans who think that I somehow dislike Rian Johnson, and nothing could be further from the truth.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nDespite his feelings about how the blockbuster handled Luke Skywalker, Hamill had nothing but praise for the Knives Out filmmaker, and called The Last Jedi \u201ca great movie\u201d.<\/p>\n
