ERIC ROSEN\/THE POINTS GUY<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Now, Alaska can add the larger 787-10 to its fleet, as has been <a href=\"https:\/\/thepointsguy.com\/news\/alaska-airlines-boeing-787-10-order\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">rumored for months<\/a>. This will give the airline dozens more seats on international flights out of its Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) home base.<\/p>\n<p>It could also allow Alaska to deploy a more premium-heavy configuration on its flagship routes \u2014 a specific capability of the 787-10 that Boeing has touted.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think with, in the case of 787-10, we\u2019re seeing airlines with a much higher premium layout,\u201d Darren Hulst, Boeing\u2019s vice president of commercial marketing, told TPG at the planemaker\u2019s Renton, Washington, production facility last summer. \u201cIt\u2019s just more opportunity to deliver a premium product &#8230; that sort of sets them apart in the marketplace.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Alaska has five 787-9s flying today. It expects to operate at least 12 long-haul routes from SEA by 2030, Minicucci has repeatedly said.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"jsx-2362441780\">Bottom line<\/h2>\n<p>Today, Alaska Air Group has 413 total aircraft between its Alaska- and Hawaiian-branded fleets.
