In 2019, during his first term in office, the American president proposed buying Greenland, but was rebuffed by Denmark<\/a>. At the end of 2024, when he wanted to regain control of the Panama Canal<\/a> and make Canada the 51st U.S. state<\/a>, Donald Trump had already asserted it an \u201cabsolute necessity\u201d to take control of Greenland. A few days later, his eldest son Donald Trump Jr.<\/strong> visited Greenland<\/a> with \u201cmy reps,\u201d in the words of his father.
