According to him, his victory came after a \u201cmassive embarrassment\u201d when he was snubbed at the Oscars. <\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"hidearticle\"><em>Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><span id=\"more-2170151\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Ben was referring to the <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.justjared.com\/photo-gallery\/2788758\/ben-affleck-critics-choice-awards-05\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">2013 Critics Choice Awards<\/a><\/em>, when he took home Best Director and Best Picture for his film <em>Argo<\/em>. The win came the day that he was not nominated for Best Director at the <em>2013 Oscars<\/em>. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s the horrible thing of everyone\u2019s telling you all the time, \u2018You\u2019re going to get nominated. You\u2019re going to get nominated for director.\u2019 This movie <em>Argo <\/em>that I did and everybody kept telling us that it would get nominated,\u201d he recalled. <\/p>\n<p>When his name wasn\u2019t included on the list of nominees, <strong>Ben <\/strong>said, \u201cAll of a sudden it\u2019s a massive embarrassment. Like it\u2019s as if the movie directed itself,\u201d he said, prompting <strong>Ben <\/strong>to agree, \u201cThat\u2019s sort of what it felt like.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>The <em>The Rip<\/em> actor added that it was harder to attend the <em>Critics Choice Awards<\/em> right after being overlooked at the Oscars. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI remember getting there and there was a like a red carpet line. It seemed like there were 500 people dying to talk to me,\u201d he said. \u201cEvery single one of them was, \u2018Hi. So the snub.\u2019 Like what do you say to that? \u2018It\u2019s a bummer\u2019 [laughs]?<\/p>\n<p>What made it more complicated to <strong>Ben <\/strong>was that he was not the one predicting his nomination. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI wasn\u2019t the one going out there and being like, \u2018I\u2019m going to get it.
