{"id":214984,"date":"2026-01-05T15:56:49","date_gmt":"2026-01-05T15:56:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2026\/01\/05\/ashley-tisdale-on-toxic-mom-groups\/"},"modified":"2026-01-05T15:56:49","modified_gmt":"2026-01-05T15:56:49","slug":"ashley-tisdale-on-toxic-mom-groups","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/entertainment.runfyers.com\/index.php\/2026\/01\/05\/ashley-tisdale-on-toxic-mom-groups\/","title":{"rendered":"Ashley Tisdale on Toxic Mom Groups"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><b>Ashley Tisdale, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(now Ashley French), best known for her role as Sharpay Evans in the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">High School Musical <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">trilogy, is opening up about a toxic mom group she was part of in Hollywood\u2014and why she decided to walk away.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a candid essay for <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.thecut.com\/article\/ashley-tisdale-french-mom-group-mean-girls-parenting.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Cut<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, French explains why she joined the group in the first place.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI felt lucky when my friend brought together a group of new moms that she knew,\u201d she wrote. \u201cMy friend\u2019s friends were in the same situation as I was. Most of us had been pregnant through the early pandemic, so we missed out on the activities where you meet other expectant mothers.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe hadn\u2019t had baby showers or prenatal yoga, and hardly anyone had held our newborns,\u201d she continued. \u201cBut finally, we were able to be together, and our kids were able to be together, and it all felt right.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Over time though, the dynamic began to shift in the once supportive group.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI began to wonder whether that was really true,\u201d French admitted. \u201cI remember being left out of a couple of group hangs, and I knew about them because Instagram made sure it fed me every single photo and Instagram Story.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">French also explained another scenario that left her <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/byashleyfrench.com\/blogs\/the-journal\/youre-allowed-to-leave-your-mom-group\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">feeling alone<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. \u201cAnother time, at one of the mom\u2019s dinner parties, I realized where I sat with her \u2014 which was at the end of the table, far from the rest of the women. I was starting to feel frozen out of the group, noticing every way that they seemed to exclude me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At first, French tried to brush off the negative feelings, convincing herself everyone was just busy and that it wasn\u2019t \u201ca big deal.\u201d But the situation only worsened.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAnd yet, I could sense a growing distance between me and the other members of the group, who seemed to not even care that I wasn\u2019t around much,\u201d French explained. \u201cWhen everyone else attended a birthday dinner together, I was met with excuses as to why I hadn\u2019t been invited. I still don\u2019t get why I wasn\u2019t at the girl hang that they all planned at my daughter\u2019s birthday.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finally, Tisdale decided enough was enough and texted the group. \u201cThis is too high school for me and I don\u2019t want to take part in it anymore.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The response was mixed. Some tried to make amends\u2014one sent flowers, then ignored her when she thanked them. Another insisted everyone assumed she\u2019d been invited and simply hadn\u2019t shown up.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then why didn\u2019t anyone ever ask where I was<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">?\u201d French wondered. \u201cTo be clear, I have never considered the moms to be bad people. (Maybe one.) But I do think our group dynamic stopped being healthy and positive \u2014 for me, anyway.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">French concluded her piece urging readers to follow their gut instinct when it comes to friends groups.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cMotherhood has enough challenges without having to wonder if the people around you are on your side. You deserve to go through motherhood with people who actually, you know, <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">like<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> you. And if you have to wonder if they do, here\u2019s the hard-earned lesson I hope you\u2019ll take to heart: It\u2019s not the right group for you.
