Matthew Perry died in October 2023<\/p>\n
The actor – who was best known for his role as Chandler Bing on the beloved sitcom – died from accidental drowning caused by the acute effects of ketamine use in October 2023, aged 54, and a plaque has now been added to a previously-unmarked section of a mausoleum at Forest Lawn Memorial Park – Hollywood Hills in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
Photos published by Entertainment Weekly – who noted the wall was unmarked as recently as 25 November – showed a plaque which read: “Matthew Langford Perry<\/p>\n
“August 19, 1969 – October 28, 2023”<\/p>\n
It was then followed by a brief epitaph that paid reference to the comedy series.<\/p>\n
\nIt simply read: “Much Loved – Friend – “<\/p>\n
\nThe 17 Again star’s remains are at a private, outdoor mausoleum section of the cemetery named Sanctuary of Treasured Love. <\/p>\n
\nThe grave of his Whole Nine Yards co-star Michael Clarke Duncan – who passed away in 2012 – is just a few steps away, while Carrie Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds are at a dual gravesite around the corner.<\/p>\n
\nThe Sanctuary of Treasured Love is also home to the graves of Bette Davis, Liberace, Ronnie James Dio, and Freddie Prinze.<\/p>\n
\nLast month, Matthew’s doctor, Salvador Pacencia was sentenced to 30 months in federal prison and fined $5,600 after pleading guilty to four counts of distributing ketamine in relation to the actor’s death.<\/p>\n
\nBefore his sentence was read in a Los Angeles federal court, he apologised to Perry’s family.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: “I failed myself. There is no excuse. I can’t undo what’s been done. I know that. I should have protected him, as his mother said. I’m just so sorry.”<\/p>\n
\nIn court, the actor’s mother Suzanne Morrison and other family members spoke before Plasencia as sentenced.<\/p>\n
\nShe referenced texts in court records where the doctor called her late son a “moron” and speculated how much he would pay for the drugs.<\/p>\n
\nAddressing him directly, she said: “There was nothing moronic about that man.”<\/p>\n
\nShe noted that he took an oath to protect people, which should have included her son.<\/p>\n
\nPlasencia revealed he has a two-year-old son who he wants to “raise” properly, and he has wondered how he will explain everything to him.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: “I want to raise him right.”<\/p>\n
