After CNN barred its anchors from drinking<\/a> during the live New Year\u2019s Eve broadcast<\/a>, Andy Cohen<\/strong><\/a> had a back-up plan on Saturday, December 31, 2022.<\/p>\n \u201cSo we should talk about the elephant in the room,\u201d Cohen quipped on Saturday. \u201cWe can\u2019t drink, alright! We can\u2019t drink. But it\u2019s fine. It\u2019s totally cool.\u201d<\/p>\n Anderson Cooper<\/strong><\/a>, for his part, didn\u2019t find the sober rules to be a \u201cbig deal,\u201d<\/a> since he normally does not drink. \u201cAre you going to be able to make it?\u201d the\u00a0Anderson Cooper 360\u00a0<\/i>journalist, 55, asked his pal, 54.<\/p>\n Cohen jokingly replied: \u201cThat\u2019s the question. We will see! Do I have a pocket full of edibles<\/a>? I do. Will I take them? I don\u2019t think so. I don\u2019t know, it\u2019s a long night. This is a telethon with no disease, do you understand? We\u2019re here all night\u00a0passing time.\u201d<\/p>\n While the\u00a0Watch What Happens Live<\/a>\u00a0<\/i>host did not reveal if he took the edibles mid-broadcast, he devised a fun game for the twosome. Cohen and Cooper took turns downing shots of various mystery liquids<\/a> \u2014 including pickle juice, buttermilk and vinegar \u2014 before guessing what it was while their vision was impaired by the Bravolebrity\u2019s signature \u201cRamona [Singer]<\/strong><\/a> glasses.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHonestly, this is no different to me because alcohol, to me, all tastes disgusting,\u201d Cooper said during the game on Saturday.<\/p>\n News broke in November 2022 that the broadcast network wanted to sober up the televised special after Cohen \u2014 who has helmed the live broadcast with Cooper since 2017 \u2014 drunkenly shaded former Mayor Bill DeBlasio<\/strong><\/a> the previous year.<\/p>\n \u201cWhat [CNN chairman Chris Licht<\/strong>] said was that he didn\u2019t want the correspondents out there drinking, but that he wanted Anderson and I to do our thing,\u201d\u00a0the Missouri native told\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter<\/i>\u00a0last year<\/a>, claiming he was going to \u201cparty harder\u201d despite the new rules. \u201cSo I\u2019m happy to do our thing. My only directive for years on CNN has been to have fun on New Year\u2019s Eve, and that is absolutely what I plan to do.\u201d<\/p>\n Cohen later clarified to\u00a0Page Six\u00a0<\/i><\/a>that he would not be drinking during the show, which surprised Kevin Hart<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI can\u2019t believe they pulled this s\u2014t on you guys!\u201d the\u00a0Central Intelligence\u00a0<\/i>actor, 43, jokingly said during a virtual appearance<\/a> on the Saturday show, before taking a shot himself. \u201cThat\u2019s right, CNN, I said s\u2014t! \u2026 I\u2019m pissed you got these two guys sober up here today.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite a sober way to ring in 2023, the longtime friends enjoyed their cohosting duties<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cThat was a lot of fun,\u201d Cohen said in a Sunday, January 1, Instagram<\/a> video with Cooper while taking their respective children to a local playground<\/a>. \u201cHappy New Year, you guys! \u2026 I did finally get my tequila, in case you\u2019re wondering, at the end of the night. Anderson didn\u2019t, I did [and] I drank for both of us \u2014 and I earned it.\u201d<\/p>\n He added: \u201cBy the way, I would like to say, I don\u2019t think the two of us acted really discernibly different much different than we would have if we had been drinking.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
