FKA Twigs<\/a> has suffered some \u201creally brutal and violent\u201d times in her life.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
FKA Twigs: ‘I was an idiot in my 20s’<\/p>\n
The 37-year-old singer says she was \u201can idiot in my 20s\u201d as she reflected on how much she has grown and changed in the years since.<\/p>\n
She told ELLE UK: \u201cI\u2019m reaching that age where I can really look back at my life and I can see so many things that have been beautiful and amazing, and other things that have been really brutal and violent. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m seeing that I can hold my love of life and my artistry and the beauty of my life, and I can also hold the brutality and the sadness and the violence. I can hold things at the same time, and that feels really good. Life is like a raspberry. It\u2019s bitter but it\u2019s sweet.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve always wanted to be at this perfect cross point of growth and youth \u2013 to be able to be young and sexy and healthy \u2013 and also not be an idiot like I was in my 20s.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nLast year, Twigs – born Tahliah Debrett Barnett – settled her domestic abuse lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend, actor Shia LaBeouf, 39.<\/p>\n
\nTwigs had filed a lawsuit in 2020 for damages due to alleged sexual battery, assault, and emotional distress inflicted during their relationship.<\/p>\n
\nShe requested to dismiss all claims with prejudice, meaning she cannot bring the case back to court in the future.<\/p>\n
\nMeanwhile, back in 2017, Twigs had laparoscopic surgery to remove six large fibroids and was open about how it affected her self-confidence, before embarking on her own journey of healing.<\/p>\n
\nShe said: \u201cPeople were like, \u2018Where did Twigs go?\u2019 I went through this crazy thing that, it turns out, so many women go through.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI started to really listen to myself. My body was almost reliving physical experiences I\u2019ve had without a physical trigger. I think, ultimately, I\u2019ve had to heal my nervous system and I\u2019m not very good at being told what to do, so I\u2019ve had to figure it out myself.\u201d<\/p>\n
