Former New York City Mayor Eric Adams<\/strong> had choice words for Andy Cohen<\/strong><\/a> after the Bravo star criticized him on CNN\u2019s New Year\u2019s Eve Live<\/em><\/a> on Wednesday, December 31.<\/p>\n

Cohen, 57, celebrated the end of Adams\u2019 run as NYC mayor just after midnight on Thursday, January 1, as Zohran Mamdani<\/strong> was being sworn in as the city\u2019s 112th mayor.<\/p>\n

Calling Adams\u2019 mayoral run \u201cchaotic,\u201d Cohen sarcastically said, \u201cGreat, you got your pardons. Go off into the sunset. We\u2019ll fiddle with what we have, with what you\u2019ve left us with,\u201d per NewsNation<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cGo dance away,\u201d Cohen continued. \u201cWe\u2019ll see you at all the parties. You\u2019ve partied your way through four years.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tNot long after Anderson Cooper started hosting CNN\u2019s New Year\u2019s Eve coverage from Times Square in 2002, the news program often became the news. In 2007, Kathy Griffin joined as the journalist\u2019s official cohost. While the unlikely duo brought the laughs, Griffin made waves annually for her dirty jokes and cursing. Still, the network stood [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

On Thursday, Adams, 65, hit back at Cohen via an X<\/a> post, writing, \u201cMy response to @Andy: AA. Another sloppy drunken rant.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf anyone actually cares about him, they\u2019ll tell him to get help,\u201d Adams continued. \u201cNew Yorkers aren\u2019t laughing with him. They are concerned about him. Public intoxication is a disease. He should seek help.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was safe in Times Square because we did our job. Again,\u201d Adams said, referring to Cohen hosting the annual CNN New Year\u2019s Eve special live from New York\u2019s Times Square.<\/p>\n

\u201cSeek help. AAA: Andy\u2019s Alcohol Anonymous,\u201d he concluded.<\/p>\n

Cohen has not publicly responded to Adams\u2019 post. Us Weekly<\/em> has reached out to his representative for comment.<\/p>\n

In 2024, Adams, who served as NYC mayor from January 2022 to December 2025, faced a federal indictment on charges including bribery, fraud and soliciting illegal foreign campaign donations. He pleaded not guilty. The charges against him were later dropped.<\/p>\n

Cohen, meanwhile, hosted CNN\u2019s notoriously boozy New Year\u2019s Eve Live<\/em> special with Anderson Cooper<\/strong> for the ninth consecutive year.<\/p>\n

Cohen became Cooper\u2019s cohost in 2017 when he replaced Kathy Griffin. However, the pair have known each other for decades after first crossing paths when their friends tried to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The pair were joined by actor B.J. Novak<\/strong> shortly after midnight, when Cohen commented on Adams\u2019 tenure as mayor, prompting Novak to joke, \u201cAndy, Andy, we\u2019ve got to cut you off. I\u2019ve seen this happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Novak was seemingly referring to Cohen\u2019s infamous rant<\/a> about another former NYC mayor, Bill de Blasio<\/strong>, during CNN\u2019s 2021-22 New Year\u2019s Eve special. \u201c[I\u2019ve been] watching Mayor de Blasio do his \u2018victory lap\u2019 dance after four years of the crappiest job as the mayor of New York,\u201d Cohen said. \u201cThe only thing that the Democrats and the Republicans can agree on is what a horrible mayor he has been, so sayonara, sucka!\u201d<\/p>\n

CNN defended Cohen at the time, saying in a statement, \u201cAndy said something he shouldn\u2019t have on live TV. We\u2019ve addressed it with him and look forward to having him back again next year.\u201d<\/p>\n

For his part, Cohen said during a February 2022 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/em> that he didn\u2019t remember much of the rant<\/a>.<\/p>\n
