How I Met Your Father<\/em> <\/a>has yet to reveal who the father actually is \u2014 but fans are beginning to speculate\u00a0the answer<\/span>\u00a0may not be who it first seemed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The Hulu series \u2014 which premiered in July 2022 \u2014 is a spinoff of\u00a0fan-favorite\u00a0<\/span>sitcom\u00a0How I Met Your Mother<\/em><\/a>,\u00a0which came to a close after nine seasons in 2014. The original show\u00a0starred Josh\u00a0Radnor<\/a>, Neil Patrick Harris<\/a>, Cobie Smulders<\/a>, Alyson Hannigan <\/a><\/strong>and Jason Segel<\/a>,<\/strong> with the late\u00a0Bob Saget<\/a> serving as narrator.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/span>The controversial series<\/span>\u00a0finale sparked instant debate among viewers, who waited nearly a decade for the reveal of Ted\u2019s (Radnor) wife. While watching the main character tie the knot with\u00a0Tracy McConnell, portrayed by Cristin Milioti<\/strong><\/a>, left fans feeling hopeful, the last-minute reveal of her death and Ted\u2019s eventual reconciliation with ex-girlfriend Robyn (Smulders) sparked outrage from those who felt<\/a> the Ted and Robyn love story was best left in the past. While the show includes endless nods<\/a><\/span>\u00a0to the original series, it\u2019s also paved its own story.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n The writers, for their part, have kept the physical appearance of Sophie\u2019s son under wraps to avoid giving\u00a0anything\u00a0away about the identity of the father among the diverse cast. A\u00a0<\/span>finite list of who the father could be\u00a0was introduced\u00a0in the pilot: Jesse (Chris Lowell<\/strong><\/a>), Ian (Daniel Augustin<\/strong>), Charlie (Tom Ainsley<\/strong>), Drew (Josh Peck<\/strong><\/a>) or Sid (Suraj Sharma<\/strong>).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cWe have a very loose plan of the ending.
