Spike Lee<\/a>‘s Da 5 Bloods \u2013 passed away on Tuesday (30.12.25) following a short illness.<\/p>\nWhitlock’s manager Brian Liebman wrote on Instagram: “It is with tremendous sadness that I share the passing of my dear friend and client Isiah Whitlock Jr. If you knew him – you loved him. A brilliant actor and even better person. May his memory forever be a blessing. Our hearts are so broken. He will be very, very missed.”<\/p>\n
Liebman told Deadline that the actor died peacefully following a short illness.<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cIsiah was a brilliant actor and even better person. He was loved by all who had the pleasure to work with or know him. He will be greatly missed.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nWhitlock was born in South Bend, Indiana, and a guest appearance on CBS\u2019 Cagney Lacey in 1987 was among his first screen roles.<\/p>\n
\nHis work in TV also included the Law Order franchise, with multiple episodes each on Special Victims Unit and Criminal Intent.<\/p>\n
\nHe is best known for playing corrupt State Senator R. Clayton Clay Davis on The Wire, while he also had memorable roles on Veep and Your Honor.<\/p>\n
\nHis last TV role was as the Chief of Police on Netflix\u2019s White House murder mystery The Residence.<\/p>\n
\nIn movies, he was known for his collaborations with Oscar-winning director Lee, appearing in six of the movies: 25th Hour (2002), She Hate Me (2004), Red Hook Summer (2012), Chi-Raq (2015), BlacKkKlansman (2018) and Da 5 Bloods (2020). <\/p>\n
\nLee took to Instagram to pay tribute to Whitlock, writing: \u201cToday I Learned Of The Passing Of My Dear Beloved Brother ISIAH WHITLOCK. GOD BLESS.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cISIAH WHITLOCK JR. (September 13,1954-December 30,2025). My Beautiful Brother Shined In These Spike Lee Joints-DA 5 BLOODS (2020). BLACKKKLANSMAN (2018).
