\t\t<\/p>\n Harry Melling<\/strong><\/a> is reflecting on his acting career post-Harry Potter<\/strong><\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n He played Dudley Dursley in five of the Harry Potter<\/em> films, beginning when he was 10 years old and finishing when he was 21. Now he\u2019s 36 and starring in the romantic dramedy Pillion<\/strong><\/a><\/em> about a BDSM relationship between his character and Alexander Skarsg\u00e5rd<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span> <\/p>\n Discussing his career, Harry<\/strong> told The Hollywood Reporter<\/a><\/em> that he doesn\u2019t \u201cwant people to know\u201d him, which has sometimes been challenging because of how massive Harry Potter<\/em> was.<\/p>\n When talking about what he sees as a \u201cHarry Melling<\/strong> role\u201d now, he said, \u201cIt\u2019s very contrary to what this industry wants you to be, and that for me is the biggest compliment someone could ever pay me. I don\u2019t want people to have an understanding of me prior to \u2014 I mean, obviously I kind of f\u2013ked it up doing Harry Potter<\/em>.\u201d <\/p>\n \u201cBut I really don\u2019t want people to have an understanding of who I am going into a movie. I want them just to see the character, which is maybe why it feels eclectic and you can\u2019t pigeonhole it,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n Despite being a child when he did the Harry Potter<\/em> films, Harry<\/strong> notes that \u201cpeople hold on to that.\u201d<\/p>\n But he does appreciate that growing up on those sets allowed him to be around a bunch of talented stage actors and really hammered home his love of theater.<\/p>\n \u201cEven when I was doing Harry Potter<\/em>, I was obsessed with theater,\u201d Harry<\/strong> said. \u201cA lot of the more senior actors in the Harry Potter<\/em> world were all these incredible stage actors \u2014 and I wanted to have that career. Then going to drama school changes what you want in coming out the other side. But at the same time, Harry Potter<\/em> is this huge, huge franchise, and I never wanted to be in any way shackled to it. I always wanted to have a really big career and try lots of different things.\u201d<\/p>\n Pillion<\/em> will be released in the U.S. on February 6 by A24.
