Aled Jones became famous for Walking In The Air<\/p>\n
The 54-year-old star shot to fame when he sang the theme from The Snowman at the age of just 14, but he wasn\u2019t originally supposed to be performing the entire song until a producer had a change of plan.<\/p>\n
He told Yours magazine: \u201cI was never meant to sing the full version of Walking in the Air.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was supposed to sing 10 or 12 bars of it.<\/p>\n
\u201cI went to the studio where the producer said, \u2018You might as well sing the whole song.\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI didn\u2019t actually know the whole thing, so I quickly learned it and recorded it.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAnd Aled never expected the song to be so huge.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cI didn\u2019t expect anything from it.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThe next thing I know, I\u2019m on Top of the Pops and the rest is history.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nWhile Aled isn\u2019t \u201cscared\u201d of ageing, he\u2019s aware life is short so is determined to make the most of every day.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cLife isn\u2019t infinite so grab every opportunity.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAgeing doesn\u2019t really scare me but I don\u2019t like the sense of a time limit.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI\u2019m aware that we\u2019re not here forever.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cThere\u2019s still so much I want to do and I try to grab every opportunity and make the most of each day. Sometimes it\u2019s easy to forget.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe Songs of Praise host has never taken his success for granted and works as hard as he can.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: \u201cSir Terry Wogan, my great friend and mentor, gave me the best advice.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cHe said, \u2018Spread yourself as thinly as possible so it\u2019s hard for people to get rid of you.\u2019<\/p>\n
\n\u201cI\u2019ve always remembered that, and I\u2019ve worked hard and never taken anything for granted.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAs I\u2019ve grown older, I\u2019ve become a perfectionist.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cSometimes it\u2019s important to remember to step back and enjoy myself.\u201d<\/p>\n
