George Clooney<\/strong><\/a> and Amal Clooney<\/strong><\/a> are stepping into the new year by marking a meaningful milestone.<\/p>\n

The A-list couple and their 8-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella, have been granted French citizenship, according to a naturalization decree published on Saturday, December 27, via French newspaper Journal Officiel<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n

It seems to be a welcome change for the pair after George, 64, recently opened up about wanting to raise his children away from the glitz and glamour<\/a> of Hollywood.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou know, we live on a farm in France. A good portion of my life growing up was on a farm, and as a kid, I hated the whole idea of it,\u201d he explained to Esquire<\/em><\/a> in October about wanting to leave Tinseltown behind. \u201cBut now, for them, it\u2019s like \u2014 they\u2019re not on their iPads, you know? They have dinner with grown-ups and have to take their dishes in. They have a much better life.\u201d<\/p>\n

George continued, \u201cI was worried about raising our kids in L.A.,<\/a> in the culture of Hollywood. I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life. France \u2014 they kind of don\u2019t give a s*** about fame. I don\u2019t want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don\u2019t want them being compared to somebody else\u2019s famous kids.\u201d<\/p>\n

The star also spoke about teaching his kids to get their hands dirty, reflecting on how one of his property\u2019s fences needed a fresh coat of protective oil to protect it from sun damage.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd at first they\u2019re taking these little, tiny brushstrokes, boop, boop, boop,\u201d he shared. \u201cAnd I go, Nooo, paint the goddamn fence. And then they go crazy painting the fence and they\u2019re covered with paint and oil and stuff.\u201d<\/p>\n

George owns a family home in France with a hundred acres of grapes and twelve hundred olive trees, which they have made their primary residence in addition to an estate in England and a villa in Italy.<\/p>\n

\u201cGrowing up in Kentucky, all I wanted to do was get away from a farm, get away from that life,\u201d he explained in a February 2025 interview with The New York Times<\/em><\/a>, revealing he\u2019s since had a change of heart. \u201cNow I find myself back in that life. I drive a tractor and all those things.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Jay Kelly actor also owns an abode in Kentucky. (He went to high school in Augusta and was born in nearby Lexington).<\/p>\n
