In September 2023, a joint investigation by The Sunday Times, The Times, and Channel 4 Dispatches culminated in a Channel 4 documentary<\/a> where four women accused Russell Brand of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse that occurred between 1999 and 2005 (one of the victims said he was 31 and she was 16). As a result, he was dropped by his management and UK women’s charity Trevi Women<\/a>, YouTube suspended monetization of his account, the BBC removed some content featuring Brand from its iPlayer and Sounds apps<\/a>, and the police launched an investigation into the allegations<\/a>. Another victim accused him of assaulting her on the set of Arthur and filed a civil suit against him in New York.<\/p>\n

In April 2025, Brand was charged with one count of rape, one count of indecent assault, one count of oral rape, and two counts of sexual assault. Days later, he was suspended indefinitely from his role as an ambassador for the Tiggywinkles Wildlife Hospital charity and dropped as a celebrity spokesperson for the American Catholic meditation and prayer app Hallow. He entered a plea of not guilty, and the trial is scheduled to begin in June 2026. <\/p>\n

This week, two more criminal charges have been filed against Brand. The new charges are one count of rape and one count of sexual assault that are related to two additional women. He is scheduled to appear in court to enter a plea in January 2026. <\/p>\n

After the new charges were announced, he posted a video praying to Jesus. He said he wants people “to understand the truth of my situation and scenario.” In the video, he also said: “I pray, Lord, anyone that I\u2019ve harmed or hurt in my years of mindlessness and sin would be healed, Lord. And I pray, Lord, for the absolute truth of who I am to be abundantly revealed.”<\/p>\n

He made an appearance at last week’s Turning Point AmericaFest in Arizona. He said Katy Perry’s parents were in the audience and then made a joke about his ex-wife dating Justin Trudeau. <\/p>\n
