Although the royal family are known for exchanging joke gifts on Christmas Eve, former royal butler Grant Harrold revealed 25 December is a day for \u201cmeaningful\u201d presents, and King Charles and Prince William are likely to give their wives special pieces handed down through the generations.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Slots Temple (https:\/\/www.slotstemple.com\/), Grant said: \u201cThey exchange light-hearted, joke gifts on Christmas Eve.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut on Christmas Day they give more meaningful presents. These can include heirloom pieces – jewellery passed down from the late Queen, the Queen Mother, or Princess Diana to the King or Prince William, and then on to Camilla or Catherine.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s still a large amount of personal jewellery in the family that hasn\u2019t been publicly seen, so passing on heirlooms is very likely.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nHowever, the royal wives may also receive \u201ccontemporary\u201d new pieces too.<\/p>\n
\nGrant added: \u201cThey also give new jewellery. The royals do buy from modern jewellers – for example, Catherine has been seen in pieces made by a close family friend.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cSo Christmas gifts could easily include both antiques and contemporary designs.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nCamilla is unlikely to receive a ring from Charles, because she has so many, or a tiara, because the headpieces are typically shared between the women in the family.<\/p>\n
\nGrant said: \u201cCamilla favours pearl necklaces, classic earrings, and brooches – much like the late Queen. Those are the most likely gifts. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cRings are possible but she already has many, so they\u2019re less likely. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cTiaras are extremely unlikely because the Royal Collection already holds a large number that they all share and rotate.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAlthough it is a possibility William could gift Catherine something for their new family home, Grant insisted they would probably prefer to choose such items together.<\/p>\n
\nOf William\u2019s gift choices, he said: \u201cAlmost certainly jewellery – earrings, necklaces, bangles, or a small brooch. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cThey might also give something for the home, especially since William and Kate have recently moved, but larger items are usually chosen together.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cRealistically, a piece of jewellery is the most likely Christmas gift.\u201d<\/p>\n
