Vulture<\/em><\/a>, acknowledging that the line between on-screen intimacy and real life can feel blurry to viewers.<\/p>\n\u201cFor me, it doesn\u2019t feel spicy at all \u2014 like, that\u2019s me and my best friend,\u201d he explained. \u201cThis is the first time in my life I\u2019m having this many eyes on me. They\u2019ve seen me naked, they\u2019ve seen me kiss, they\u2019ve seen me be in love with a man on screen \u2014 it\u2019s only normal for people to try to transfer that over to mine and Hudson\u2019s real life.\u201d<\/p>\n
While Connor understands the curiosity, he\u2019s clear about where his focus lies \u2014 and it\u2019s not on feeding rumors about his personal life.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel honored to be able to bring someone to life that so many people feel seen, understood, and represented by, and I think that transcends whoever I\u2019m sleeping with in my real life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Hudson echoed that sentiment, emphasizing that closeness doesn\u2019t have to come with labels. According to him, the way he and Connor interact is rooted in genuine friendship \u2014 and comfort.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want queer people telling queer stories, but also, there\u2019s the element of Connor and I\u2014we\u2019re best friends, and we love expressing that physically,\u201d Hudson told Deadline earlier this month. \u201cYou see people who infer or assume, and you kind of have to let that go. But then again, I never wanna stop expressing the love I have for Connor physically, and I\u2019m never really going to, and I think multiple things can be true at once.\u201d<\/p>\n
As for filming the show\u2019s most talked-about scenes, Hudson admits he actually prefers the intimate moments to the athletic ones.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019d rather do the sex scenes because the hockey scenes\u2014my feet hurt and then I cramp and I\u2019m not that good, so I have to be very diligent with making sure I don\u2019t look like a phony,\u201d he joked. \u201cBut with the sex scenes, we rehearse them so heavily and we knew what we were gonna do going in, that they\u2019re also a lot of fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
Even series director Jacob Tierney has weighed in on the off-screen speculation \u2014 or rather, why he avoids it altogether.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s any reason to get into that stuff,\u201d he told Xtra. \u201cYou can\u2019t ask questions like that when you\u2019re casting\u2014it\u2019s actually against the law. You have to gauge somebody\u2019s enthusiasm and willingness to do the work. Both of these guys came in ready to make this story feel authentic and hit it out of the park.\u201d<\/p>\n
For now, Connor and Hudson seem content letting the work speak for itself \u2014 and keeping their real-life relationship exactly where they want it: grounded, genuine, and drama-free.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
