I’m turning a new leaf.<\/p>\n

As I’ve added more premium cards to my award strategy<\/a>, my wallet has expanded. Top-tier travel products have been raising annual fees and adding more statement credits<\/a> throughout the year, and I’ve reached the point where it’s time to get organized. I don’t want to miss out on value because I let the months slip away.<\/p>\n

I have perks to keep track of on my American Express Platinum Card\u00ae<\/a><\/span>, Capital One Venture X Rewards Credit Card<\/a>, Hilton Honors American Express Surpass\u00ae Card<\/a><\/span> and Chase Sapphire Preferred\u00ae Card<\/a><\/span> (see rates and fees<\/a>).<\/p>\n

Depending on the benefit<\/a>, a statement credit may reset each calendar year, on my account anniversary, biannually, quarterly or monthly. It’s a lot to keep track of \u2014 and that’s why I leaned on my fellow TPGers to help me out. Some of my colleagues successfully manage more than 20 rewards cards.<\/p>\n

If you’re balancing multiple cards with time-sensitive statement credits<\/a>, you aren’t alone. Here are four tips to help you \u2014 and me \u2014 get on track with our card perks.<\/p>\n

Log in to online account trackers<\/h2>\n

While I haven’t yet hopped on the spreadsheet train or set up recurring app notifications, I do check in on my card accounts weekly and keep an eye on the benefit trackers for each of my cards.<\/p>\n

This method isn’t perfect, as it can take anywhere from a few days to even weeks for certain statement credits to be reflected in my account.<\/p>\n

However, I do appreciate how issuers, such as American Express<\/a>, eventually reflect the exact dollar amount I’ve spent toward a benefit, along with how much I have left to spend to maximize it.<\/p>\n

This method is working for now, but as my life becomes busier (and I add more cards to my wallet), I can see the need for other options for tracking my credits.<\/p>\n

Make a spreadsheet<\/h2>\n

Award travel enthusiasts<\/a> have been making spreadsheets to keep up with statement credits, benefits, bonus categories and balances for years. Admittedly, this is a straightforward route that I hope to take advantage of more in 2026.<\/p>\n

Luckily, many TPGers have perfected their process. Director of points, miles and credit card content Carly Helfand<\/a>‘s method is streamlined. She splits up statement credits into sections based on the card they’re found on, listing the amount she can receive and how often it’s earned.<\/p>\n

For instance, in the Amex Platinum<\/a><\/span> section of her spreadsheet, Carly has four $100 Resy<\/a> credits listed out with “Q1,” “Q2,” “Q3” and “Q4” \u2014 designating the four up to $100 quarterly statement credits the Amex Platinum Card provides for purchases made with any eligible U.S. Resy restaurant.*<\/p>\n

*Cardholders receive up to $400 per calendar year; enrollment is required; no reservation is required.<\/em><\/p>\n

She marks an “X” in a corresponding cell after a statement credit is used and checks her spreadsheet quarterly.<\/p>\n

A spreadsheet is flexible, customizable and personal, but you have to take time to check in with it regularly. My New Year’s resolution will be to establish a spreadsheet routine that works for me since this method is not one-size-fits-all.<\/p>\n

Set email and calendar reminders<\/h2>\n

Sometimes, you need a quick pop-up to get your mind on track.<\/p>\n

Lead points and miles writer Katie Genter<\/a> said she uses a few spreadsheets, but she also uses AwardWallet to send out email reminders when a statement credit she hasn’t used yet is about to expire.<\/p>\n

Contributing editor Matt Moffitt<\/a> sets recurring reminders each quarter in his Google Calendar for monthly, quarterly and biannual credits. This includes the up to $75 quarterly Lululemon<\/a> credit for purchases at U.S. stores (excluding outlets) and online on the Amex Platinum<\/a><\/span>.**<\/p>\n

**Cardholders receive up to $300 in statement credits per calendar year; enrollment is required.<\/em><\/p>\n

These are tips I can also get behind since I regularly use Google Calendar to keep up with travel plans and appointments. Adding in my easy-to-forget statement credits should be seamless.<\/p>\n

Use an app<\/h2>\n

Matt updates a “master list” of biannual and annual credits in the Notes app on his iPhone every time he spends one.<\/p>\n

For example, he has a note to use his Hilton Honors American Express Aspire Card<\/a><\/span>‘s up to $200 biannual Hilton resort<\/a> statement credit (up to $400 in statement credits per calendar year on eligible purchases at Hilton resorts; enrollment is required) in the first half of 2026 since he’s already used it for the second half of 2025.<\/p>\n

Carly sets up notifications on a to-do list app called TickTick to remind herself to check in on recurring credits, and Katie uses the app Todoist for reminders.<\/p>\n

Katie said she will “double (and, in some cases, triple) up on reminders” to be sure she isn’t missing out on statement credits. I think that’s a pretty good idea.<\/p>\n

Bottom line<\/h2>\n

If you have multiple premium credit cards offering long lists of statement credits, you’ll want to ensure you’re using them up and maximizing the return on your annual fees.<\/p>\n

This can become more challenging as you add more cards to your strategy, which is why now could be the best time to get organized.<\/p>\n

I’m ready to try some of these methods out for myself to make it easier to keep up with all my perks.<\/p>\n
