The sun has set on Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David\u2019s love story now that Paramount+ has cancelled NCIS: Tony & Ziva<\/em><\/a> after one season.<\/p>\n

Stars Michael Weatherly<\/strong><\/a> and Cote de Pablo<\/strong><\/a>, who played Tony and Ziva, respectively, on both NCIS<\/em> and the spinoff series<\/a>, issued a joint statement on Friday, December 19, shortly after news of the cancellation broke.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe feel incredibly lucky to have had the chance to play these characters once again and to tell the next chapter of Tony and Ziva\u2019s story,\u201d the pair and longtime collaborators wrote via Weatherly\u2019s Instagram<\/a>. \u201cOur deepest thanks goes to our extraordinary cast, crew, writers, directors and producers, and to our partners at CBS Studios and Paramount+ who helped make this dream a reality.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actors concluded: \u201cBut most of all, we want to thank the fans around the world who joined us on this adventure and finally got to see Tony and Ziva find their happily ever after.\u201d<\/p>\n

CBS and Paramount+ revealed earlier on Friday that NCIS: Tony & Ziva<\/em><\/a> would not be returning to the streamer for a second season.<\/p>\n

Fans were first introduced to Special Agent Anthony \u201cTony\u201d DiNozzo during season 1 of NCIS<\/em> in 2003, which follows the Naval Criminal Investigative Service unit in Washington, D.C., as they solve crimes involving servicemen and women around the area.<\/p>\n

De Pablo\u2019s Ziva David made her debut on the flagship series during season 3 in 2005, and her chemistry with Tony was instant. It wasn\u2019t until 2013, however, that the TV characters became a couple and professed their love for one another.<\/p>\n

Three years later, Ziva\u2019s family home in Israel was attacked by terrorists and she was presumed dead. After the bombing, Tony learned he and Ziva share a daughter, Tali, which prompted him to leave NCIS to care for the child.<\/p>\n

NCIS<\/em> fans learned during season 17 of the CBS show that Ziva was alive \u2014 but her future with Tony was left up in the air.<\/p>\n

Weatherly, 57, left NCIS<\/em> in 2016 after 13 seasons<\/a>, while de Pablo, 46, exited the show during season 11 in 2013, briefly returning during season 17 to confirm her survival.<\/p>\n

Paramount+ announced in February 2024 that the actors would be reprising their roles<\/a> on the new show, NCIS: Tony & Ziva<\/em>.<\/p>\n

When the spinoff premiered in September, Tony and Ziva were coparenting their daughter, Tali, in France. After Tony\u2019s company was blamed for stealing money from Europol \u2014 and Tali became a target for an unknown assailant \u2014 he and Ziva teamed up to protect their daughter and clear his name.<\/p>\n

Season 1 concluded in October. After giving fans glimpses at the missing years<\/a> between 2020, when Tony and Ziva were reunited, and 2025, when they worked together to once again fight crime, the couple officially rekindled their romance.<\/p>\n
