But People is reporting on it as though it\u2019s a done deal.<\/p>\n<p>A five-time Emmy nominee, Yang became SNL\u2019s first Chinese American cast member when he joined in 2019\u2026 and also one of its first openly gay stars.<\/p>\n<p>As his career took off, some believed Yang would leave the program before it even started Season 51 back in September.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always gone by the instinct of, do I have more to do? And I feel like I do,\u201d he told People in the fall.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEven Kay D. Rhodes Lorne [Michaels] and I talked about it, and Lorne was like, \u2018You have more to do,\u2019 and that means a lot, because I even confessed to him. I was like, \u2018I feel the audience is maybe getting sick of me.\u2019 And he was like, \u2018That\u2019s not true. There\u2019s more for you to do.
