Amanda Seyfried<\/strong><\/a> is opening up about auditioning for Wicked<\/strong><\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n If you didn\u2019t know, the 40-year-old Emmy-winning actress previously revealed that she auditioned for the role of Glinda<\/a> in the Jon M. Chu<\/strong><\/a> musical movie, but the role ultimately went to Ariana Grande<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n While appearing on Chelsea Handler<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s podcast Dear Chelsea<\/a><\/em> on Thursday (December 18), Amanda<\/strong> detailed the vocal training she went through to prepare for the audition and revealed if she has any hard feelings over losing the role.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span>\u201cI completely let go of the need to access something that I might not ever be able to access in terms of, like, control of the vibrato and the stamina and the breath work,\u201d Amanda<\/strong> said of her vocal skills. \u201cI understand that I\u2019m not going to be starring in a musical on Broadway, where I need the kind of stamina that I\u2019ve been trying to build.\u201d<\/p>\n While Amanda<\/strong> has often tried to \u201cstop listening\u201d to the sound of her own voice, she did go back to re-watch her Wicked<\/em> audition tape.<\/p>\n \u201cI sang better than I thought I would,\u201d Amanda<\/strong> said. \u201cI think it came with the excitement, the momentum of how much I was training for it, and I was very proud of myself. That will never go away.\u201d<\/p>\n Despite not landing the role, Amanda<\/strong> made some realizations about her voice during the training process.<\/p>\n \u201cI realized, \u2018Maybe, I\u2019m not that kind of singer, and I don\u2019t need to sound like anyone else,\u2019\u201d Amanda <\/strong>shared. \u201cIt took me four years, but at least I\u2019m here. When I listen to the songs [I did for] Les Mis<\/em>, it was exactly how it needed to be for that time.\u201d<\/p>\n Amanda also talked about her upcoming movie The Testament of Ann Lee<\/em>, which also happens to be a musical.<\/p>\n \u201c[When] Ann Lee<\/em> came, the opportunity was amazing,\u201d Amanda<\/strong> raved. \u201cIt was just perfect for where my voice was in that it\u2019s a human voice [and] not a trained voice.\u201d<\/p>\n As for if she has any hard feelings over not getting cast in Wicked<\/em>, Amanda<\/strong> said, \u201cI\u2019m over it. It\u2019s all happened [exactly how it is meant to]. I truly believe that.
