Speaking on the Great Company podcast, Donovan explained: “I flew in from Australia and scored some cocaine and it was pretty good quality.<\/p>\n
“I mean, that is the truth you know and I ‘got on it’ as they say, and that was two or three days before the event.<\/p>\n
“Suddenly, I found myself amongst all of these very famous people \u2026 and I just found myself overeating, shall we say.”<\/p>\n
\nDonovan collapsed while Depp was performing a rendition of Van Morrison classic Gloria with Hutchence and the party was stopped so he could get help.<\/p>\n
\nHe explained: “This soap star from Australia who had been on a bender for two days suddenly finds himself in a stretcher with the room closed down and the lights gone up.<\/p>\n
\n“Nothing to be proud of. [It was] through the roof embarrassing.”<\/p>\n
\nHowever, the Neighbours star admits the incident didn’t put him off drugs. He added: “I got back on it straight away. I had the money and the ability to do what I wanted to do.”<\/p>\n
\nHe said of his years of drug abuse: “My drug take was more binge but long binges \u2013 like, three, four days. I think I went four days without sleep once. I used to have seizures, too.”<\/p>\n
\nDonovan finally got clean after meeting his wife Angela Malloch and welcoming his first child, daughter Gemma, now 25.<\/p>\n
\nHe said: “You’ve got to want to change yourself. There are catalysts and, to cut a long story short, for me it was the birth of my first child and meeting my wife. That was the get-out clause I was waiting for.”<\/p>\n
\nThe actor is also dad to Zac, 24, and Molly, 14, with Malloch, who he married in 2008.<\/p>\n
