Helen Mirren<\/a>) is dying over the Christmas period.<\/p>\nJimmy, 36, asked Kate – who also directed the movie: “Have you done crystal healing or sound baths because that feels like quite a Hollywood thing, these very spiritual, sometimes weird…”<\/p>\n
She replied: “I haven’t actually done a sound bath, no. And I do have a slight allergic reaction to anything that is described as Hollywoody. I do know what you mean.<\/p>\n
\n“I\u2019m not opposed to a little bit of a talisman-y something or other-y. I don\u2019t mind that.”<\/p>\n
\nJimmy wondered: “A bit of saging?”<\/p>\n
\nKate replied: “Not necessarily sage. A bit of salt in your shoes, though. A bit of salt in your pockets.”<\/p>\n
\nAfter Jimmy asked if that superstition is an “energy thing”, The Holiday star explained: “Yes. If you are encountering tricky individuals in life, shall we say, a little bit of protection by salt in the pocket.<\/p>\n
\n“Soaks up the toxicity and doesn\u2019t go into you. I have done that.”<\/p>\n
\nJimmy quipped: “That\u2019s where I\u2019m going wrong. I need to fill my pockets with salt.”<\/p>\n
\nKate chimed in: “Shove salt in your shoes. Totally nuts!”<\/p>\n
\nIn 2024, Kate hailed 66-year-old actress Emma Thompson for being “protective” of her, and Kate has always paid close attention to the advice of her Sense and Sensibility co-star.<\/p>\n
\nSpeaking at the 92NY Center for Culture and Arts in New York City, Kate shared: “[Emma] has a groundedness and a clarity of perception about the industry as a whole.<\/p>\n
\n“She was quite sort of protective of me.”<\/p>\n
\nEmma was concerned for Kate after she starred in Titanic as Rose DeWitt Bukater – a role that changed her life.<\/p>\n
\nKate recalled: “I think she was actually just [a] bit worried, like – you know, not, \u2018is Kate gonna go off the rails?\u2019 \u2019cause clearly that wasn\u2019t in my personality – but just that it [can] be very overwhelming, and what was I gonna do?<\/p>\n
\n“She did say to me \u2026 just remember, it\u2019s equally as important not to work as it\u2019s to work. And I have never forgotten that.<\/p>\n
\n“I knew that I didn\u2019t want this to run out. I wanted to always be doing this job. And I thought, God, if I do it, then maybe people would get sick of me and argue, \u2018Well, not her anymore, and let\u2019s move on to somebody else.'”<\/p>\n
\nAnd the award-winning Hollywood legend still follows Emma’s advice.<\/p>\n
\nKate said: “I do remember me taking it very seriously, what Emma had said and acting on it. And still acting on it, actually.”<\/p>\n
