Reba McEntire<\/strong><\/a> paid tribute to her late stepson, Brandon Blackstock<\/strong><\/a>, on what would have been his 49th birthday.<\/p>\n

McEntire, 70, took to Instagram<\/a> on Tuesday, December 16, to publicly celebrate Brandon, who died<\/a> in August after a long battle with cancer.<\/p>\n

\u201cHappy birthday Brandon! We love and miss you a bunch. \u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f\u2764\ufe0f,\u201d the country singer wrote alongside a photo of herself and Brandon standing with McEntire\u2019s stepdaughters, Shawna and Chassidy, and biological son Shelby, each shared with McEntire\u2019s ex-husband Narval Blackstock<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A rep for the Blackstock family confirmed via a statement to Us Weekly<\/em> on August 7 that Brandon, the ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson<\/strong>, had died. He was 48.<\/p>\n

McEntire, 70, responded to a Friday, August 8, Instagram post by her son, Shelby Blackstock, whom she shares with ex Narvel Blackstock. \u201cWords cannot begin to capture the tremendous loss our family has endured. Yesterday, we lost a brother, a father, a grandfather, and [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family,\u201d a statement read at the time. \u201cWe thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family\u2019s privacy during this very difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Details into his death were provided four days later, with Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis telling Us<\/em> that melanoma, a form of skin cancer, was the cause<\/a> of Brandon\u2019s death while the manner was labelled as \u201cnatural causes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hollis said in an August 11 statement to Us<\/em>, \u201cBrandon Blackstock passed away peacefully at his home in Butte, Montana on August 7th under hospice care surrounded by his family.\u201d<\/p>\n

An insider told Us<\/em> in the wake of Brandon\u2019s death that despite McEntire and Narvel, 69, divorcing in 2015 after 26 years of marriage, McEntire was bonded to Brandon and supported him<\/a> during his final days.<\/p>\n

\u201cReba has spent more time with the Blackstock crew in the past year than in years prior,\u201d the source told Us<\/em> exclusively on August 8. \u201cThey really came together.\u201d<\/p>\n

The insider added that McEntire spent significant time with the Blackstock clan at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, in particular, where she served as one of three headliners. \u201cWhen she did her rodeo concert, which was a big deal for her, she flew out the entire family and they made a family vacation out of it,\u201d the source said. \u201cThey all spent a lot of time together.\u201d<\/p>\n
