Australian Olympic<\/a> hurdler Michelle Jenneke<\/strong> is ready to take the plunge \u2014 or, in her case, the jump.<\/p>\n

Jenneke, 32, and fellow Olympian Alex Beck<\/strong> announced their engagement<\/a> on Sunday, December 14, after more than eight years of keeping their relationship a secret.<\/p>\n

\u201c8.5 years in the making \u2764\ufe0f\ud83d\udc8d,\u201d the couple wrote in a joint Instagram post,<\/a> alongside a carousel of images from the proposal.<\/p>\n

The announcement shocked even their biggest fans, as the pair had never posted a photo of themselves together to social media and kept their relationship a secret from the public.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tNoah Lyles and his girlfriend, Junelle Bromfield, are ready to run down the aisle. Lyles, 27, announced via Instagram on Sunday, October 13, that he proposed to Bromfield, 26, after two years of dating. \u201cTo My Future Wife I Will Love You Forever \ud83d\udc8d,\u201d he captioned a video of the romantic milestone. Beck, 33, competed for Australia at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, finishing sixth in the men\u2019s 400 meters. Janneke, for her part, competed in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and the 2024 Paris Games. She is the second-fastest 100m hurdler in Australian history.<\/p>\n

Jenneke first rose to fame in 2012 when her pre-race dancing routine went viral. It helped her land a host of modeling opportunities, including an appearance in the 2013 Sports Illustrated<\/em> Swimsuit Issue<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The added attention came with criticism as her lackluster performance at the 2016 Olympics led to the narrative that she was not devoting her full attention to her craft.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s probably easy to look at the exposure that I was getting and think I was doing a lot in that space, but I really wasn\u2019t,\u201d Jenneke told Wide World of Sports<\/em><\/a> in 2023. \u201cThe majority of my time I was on the track, I was working hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tGreg Doherty\/Getty Images Despite Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Andre Levrone sharing a mutual friend, they didn\u2019t connect until a conversation in the DMs. \u201cWe didn\u2019t interact until he slid into my DMs. We started off as friends,\u201d the Olympic track star recalled to The Knot in 2022. \u201cHe asked me to do Bible study with him [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cBut no, I don\u2019t at all think any of it has ever distracted from what I\u2019ve been doing on the track,\u201d she added. \u201cI don\u2019t think that any of the commercial things I\u2019ve done have ever distracted from what I\u2019ve done on the track.\u201d<\/p>\n

The criticism, she said, caused her to question whether she belonged on the Olympic team and caused her to scale back her public appearances. When she returned to the Olympics in Paris, she ran the women\u2019s 100-meter hurdles repechage with a ruptured hamstring after taking a fall the day before.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot the Olympics I had dreamed it would be,\u201d she wrote via Instagram at the time. \u201cI felt ready to run the race of my life but unfortunately I fully ruptured one of my hamstring tendons in my heat which caused me to hit a hurdle and take a pretty big fall.\u201d<\/p>\n
