She then had to face the dilemma of whether to make a report to child social services.<\/p>\n<p>The finale revealed that Betsey\u2019s head injury wasn\u2019t caused by Jess. It was Mel\u2019s husband, Rob (<strong>Stephen Campbell Moore<\/strong>), who was at the house when the infant fell, which he scared Jess\u2019 son Frankie <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/entertainment\/news\/already-binged-all-her-fault-then-stream-this-new-thriller-show-right-now\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">from revealing it to anyone else.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe book and the show changed so much that in the process of making the show, it\u2019s really quite a different entity. It means that people can still read the book and enjoy and find different things,\u201d Joyner exclusively told <em>Us Weekly<\/em> about joining the project in the lead role. \u201cAs far as Liz is concerned, there isn\u2019t quite as much depth on screen. Reese Witherspoon is at the center of many of the most successful TV shows based on books, thanks to her passion for bringing fresh stories to a new [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Joyner was grateful she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.usmagazine.com\/entertainment\/pictures\/best-medical-tv-shows-of-all-time-er-greys-anatomy-and-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">had the novel as a reference.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI felt really rooted and grounded because I knew Liz very well from the book. I didn\u2019t feel like anything in the show was a diversion of that character. I really fell in love with Liz in the book,\u201d she recalled. \u201cShe\u2019s got no time for herself, she hasn\u2019t got time to eat properly or look after herself. She\u2019s literally last on her own list, which I think is the case for so many working women that I really identified with it. But there are several YA book series on Us Weekly\u2019s ever-growing TBR pile, and while we\u2019re [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI personally had an operation a couple of days before we started filming, which I never mentioned to anybody. I didn\u2019t want to worry anybody. It was a little emergency operation that I wasn\u2019t expecting. I went in on the Saturday morning and I flew out on the Monday,\u201d she recalled. \u201cIt was about finding those moments that really, really felt like Liz from the novel. Even if they\u2019re tiny moments, putting them into the show because they couldn\u2019t be there in words. You\u2019ve got to give yourself over to the story and the main arc of the thing. That understanding that we\u2019re all going through something. Certainly in those early days, you\u2019re so exhausted that no one\u2019s thinking straight and no one\u2019s their best selves. There\u2019s this lovely friendship and relationship between all the women. Ultimately, they really understand like no one else,\u201d she told Us. \u201cYou find your people and you\u2019re really grateful for them.
