The family of Rob Reiner<\/strong> and his wife, Michele Reiner<\/strong>, broke their silence following the couple\u2019s death<\/a>.<\/p>\n

According to a report by Variety<\/em><\/a>, published in the late hours of Sunday, December 14, the pair\u2019s family shared a statement after Rob and Michele were killed inside their Los Angeles home that day.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner,\u201d a family spokesman said in a statement shared with the outlet. \u201cWe are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n

TMZ<\/a> first reported on Sunday that the Los Angeles Fire Department was called out to the couple\u2019s Brentwood home \u201cfor medical aid,\u201d where a 78-year-old man and an \u201capproximately 68\u201d year-old woman were found. Us Weekly<\/em> confirmed later that night that the two people were \u201cdetermined dead on the scene.\u201d<\/p>\n

They were later confirmed to be Rob and Michele.<\/p>\n

Us Weekly<\/em> has reached out to the LAPD for comment.<\/p>\n

A press conference held by the LAPD on Sunday night, reported on by Deadline<\/em><\/a>, revealed further findings by the LAPD. Per the outlet, Deputy Chief Alan S. Hamilton<\/strong> stated that the LAPD \u201cis currently conducting an ongoing homicide investigation into the two deaths at Rob Reiner\u2019s Brentwood home.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hamilton added that the LAPD \u201chas not identified a suspect at this time\u201d and is not pursuing any persons of interest. The press conference did, however, confirm that the couple were found dead \u201cfrom apparent stab wounds.\u201d<\/p>\n

The outlet also noted that Hamilton \u201cavoided classifying the investigation as a murder one.\u201d Instead, the Deputy Chief labelled the ordeal a \u201cdeath investigation\u201d and detailed that the organization\u2019s \u201cRobbery-Homicide Division\u201d was handling the proceedings.<\/p>\n

Rob\u2019s vast body of work spans significant directorial projects including When Harry Met Sally<\/em>, This Is Spinal Tap<\/em>, The Princess Bride<\/em>, Stand By Me<\/em>, A Few Good Men<\/em> and Misery<\/em>. He also rose to fame as an actor, with film roles in The First Wives Club<\/em> and The Wolf of Wall Street<\/em>.<\/p>\n
