Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes<\/strong><\/a> limped off the field after suffering a gruesome leg injury late in the game against the Los Angeles Chargers.<\/p>\n

With less than two minutes to play on Sunday, December 14<\/a>, Mahomes, 30, was tackled awkwardly along the sideline, and immediately grabbed his left knee in pain.<\/p>\n

His knee seemed to buckle on the play. Trainers attended to Mahomes, and after a few minutes on the field, he limped off and was taken to the medical tent on the sideline.<\/p>\n

Later, he was seen being assisted to the locker room and didn\u2019t return to the game.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tBrittany Mahomes and husband Patrick Mahomes planned the \u201cbest day\u201d for son Bronze\u2019s 3rd birthday. Brittany, 30, shared a glimpse of how the family celebrated via Instagram on Sunday, November 30, posting a video from a party with a full Spider-Man theme. \u201cMy boy is THREE\u2764\ufe0f,\u201d she gushed in the caption. The clip showed Bronze\u2019s [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Mahomes finished with 189 yards passing and an interception. He also ran for a touchdown.<\/p>\n

Gardner Minshew<\/strong>, 29, came in as Mahomes\u2019 backup and finished the game, but threw an interception to seal the Chiefs\u2019 fate.<\/p>\n

Minshew \u2014 a seven-year NFL veteran \u2014 is likely to lead the Chiefs for the final three games of the season if Mahomes, a two-time NFL MVP, misses time with the injury.<\/p>\n

With the 16-13 loss, Kansas City was officially eliminated from the playoffs for the first time in 11 seasons. It\u2019s a blimp on an otherwise dominant decade for the Chiefs, who have won three Super Bowls in the last five seasons, including going back-to-back in 2022 and 2023.<\/p>\n

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid<\/strong> provided an update on Mahomes after the game, saying he would undergo an MRI on Sunday night or Monday, December 15.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know,\u201d Reid said of the severity of the injury. \u201cBut, I mean, it didn\u2019t look good. We\u2019ll see where it goes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mahomes has been dealing with a knee injury for the last few weeks, but has not missed any time up until now.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like I\u2019ve played a football season,\u201d Mahomes said on Wednesday, December 10, on 96.5 The Fan. \u201cYou know, everybody\u2019s kind of banged up and has his things here and there, but I\u2019ll be ready to go, and I\u2019m excited to get back out there on the football field and try to do whatever I can to get back in a better mindset of winning.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIt was not a Thanksgiving to remember for Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs.\u00a0 Mahomes, 30, and Kansas City lost 31-28 to the Dallas Cowboys at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas on Thursday, November 27, putting the Chiefs\u2019 playoff hopes in severe peril.\u00a0 \u201cYou\u2019ve got to win every game now \u2014 and hope that\u2019s [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He was on the injury report ahead of last week\u2019s Sunday Night Football matchup against the Houston Texans, but was all cleared to play that game and this week\u2019s game.<\/p>\n
