Sam Elliott<\/strong> and Billy Bob Thornton<\/strong><\/a> play father and son on Taylor Sheridan<\/strong>\u2018s hit series Landman<\/em> \u2014 but what is their real-life age difference?<\/p>\n While season 2 of Paramount+\u2019s Landman<\/em> introduced Tommy\u2019s (Thornton) father, T. L. (Elliott), off screen Elliott, 81, and Thornton, 70,<\/a> are just 11 years apart. Thornton weighed in on their small age gap as L<\/a>andman<\/a><\/em> explored the complicated family dynamic.<\/p>\n \u201cYou can look through movie history, and fathers or mothers have been close in age [to their children],\u201d he told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this month. \u201cIt\u2019s just a thing you do because you\u2019re actors portraying someone.\u201d<\/p>\n Thornton urged viewers to suspend<\/a> their disbelief.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you put yourself in the right headspace, I would find a way to play Sam\u2019s older brother. They would say, \u2018But wait a minute, you guys are 11 years apart,\u2019\u201d he noted. \u201cBut yeah, we never think about that. \u2026 It\u2019s all in the way we portray the characters and Taylor\u2019s vision.\u201d<\/p>\n Landman<\/em> introduced Thornton as the corporate fixer working for an oil titan (Jon Hamm<\/strong>)<\/a> while building up to its promise of plot twists. The season finale killed off Hamm\u2019s Monty while Tommy was named the president of M-Tex before getting kidnapped \u2014 and severely beaten \u2014 by a drug cartel leader. Tommy is eventually released with the promise that he will work with the cartel.<\/p>\n Season 2 raised the stakes by shaking up the narrative with Demi Moore<\/strong>\u2018s Cami added into the mix more.
