While John Cena<\/strong> received some praise from his final opponent this week, it wasn\u2019t all smiles and rainbows.<\/p>\n

Before Cena\u2019s final match \u2014 which will come on Saturday, December 13, at WWE\u2019s Saturday Night\u2019s Main Event at Capitol One Arena in Washington, D.C. \u2014 his opponent, Gunther<\/strong>, told People<\/em> <\/a>that \u201cit\u2019s undeniable\u201d that Cena is \u201cthe greatest of all time.\u201d<\/p>\n

But in the same breath, Gunther promised to make Cena tap out for the first time in his career.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt means everything to me to have the opportunity to spoil John Cena\u2019s last match,\u201d Gunther told the outlet on Friday, December, 12.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tJohn Cena defended his admiration for former WWE chairman Vince McMahon in the aftermath of McMahon facing multiple accusations of sexual misconduct and sex trafficking.\u00a0 In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly at the Amazon Upfronts on Monday, May 12, Cena, 48, acknowledged there has been backlash to him saying \u201cI love Vince\u201d in a [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Gunther, 38, joined WWE in 2022 and is a two-time WWE World Heavyweight Champion.<\/p>\n

Cena, meanwhile, is a 17-time WWE world champion who has been competing for the last 23 years.<\/p>\n

Gunther earned the spot as Cena\u2019s final opponent by winning the Last Time Is Now tournament, a special tournament put on by WWE to determine who would face Cena for his final match.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the bigtime matchup, fans and wrestlers took to social media to celebrate Cena and his legacy in the sport.<\/p>\n

WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle<\/strong> posted a throwback photo of himself in the wrestling ring with Cena, wishing him well as he finishes his wrestling career.<\/p>\n

\u201cWho in the hell are you? I\u2019m John Cena,\u201d Angle wrote on his post via X<\/a>. \u201cFrom his unforgettable moments in the ring to his inspiring presence outside of it, John Cena has truly left an indelible mark on the world of sports entertainment. I am proud to have been part of his journey, and what a ride it has been for him. His dedication, resilience, and passion have inspired countless fans and peers alike.<\/p>\n

Cena began his career by wrestling Angle in 2002, and has since become one of the most iconic WWE wrestlers of all time.<\/p>\n

While Angle \u2014 an Olympic gold medalist \u2014 beat Cena in that first bout, it was a hard-fought match, as is tradition for retiring wrestlers to welcome in new competitors.<\/p>\n
