Sherrone Moore<\/b>, now-former coach for the University of Michigan Wolverines football team, has been removed from the organization and detained by police.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

On December 10, the organization revealed that Moore was no longer employed as the team\u2019s coach following an internal investigation.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cSherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately,\u201d athletic director Warde Manuel<\/strong> said in a December 10 statement. \u201cFollowing a university investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and UM maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Sources told <\/span>CBS Sports<\/span><\/i> the investigation into Moore\u2019s actions had been ongoing since at least mid-November.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

CBS Sports<\/i><\/a> also reported that associate head coach <\/span>Biff Poggi<\/b> has been appointed interim head coach, effective immediately.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The same day that he was fired, Moore was also taken into custody in Saline, Michigan as part of an alleged assault investigation, the Pittsfield Township Police Department shared with <\/span>The New York Times<\/span><\/i><\/a>.<\/span><\/p>\n

They also shared that Moore is expected to appear in court for arraignment on Friday, December 12.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A source briefed on U of M\u2019s decision to fire Moore also told <\/span>The New York Times<\/span><\/i> that the school received an anonymous tip regarding the inappropriate relationship which prompted the investigation that ultimately led to his dismissal.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This comes after Moore was already set to be suspended from the first game of the 2026 football season due to his involvement in a <\/span>sign-stealing scheme<\/span><\/a> that occurred when he was co-offensive coordinator and offensive line coach under previous head coach <\/span>Jim Harbaugh<\/b>.<\/span><\/p>\n

PEOPLE<\/span><\/i><\/a> also obtained a recording from a 911 dispatcher who may have received a call from Moore\u2019s alleged assault victim.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the call, which took place shortly before Moore was arrested on December 10, the woman calling told the dispatcher that a \u201cmale was at the location in the house attacking her\u201d and that he \u201cbeen stalking her for months.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

While Moore is not named in the recording, the call was placed from the address where the incident with Moore took place, on the same day.<\/span><\/p>\n

The investigation is still ongoing, and no official charges against Moore have been stated at this time.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
