University of Michigan president Domenico Grasso<\/strong> has addressed fired football coach Sherrone Moore<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s alleged inappropriate relationship with a fellow staff member.<\/p>\n

\u201cEarlier this week, the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics dismissed head football coach Sherrone Moore with cause for violating University policy by engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member,\u201d Grasso, 70, wrote in a statement<\/a> shared Thursday, December 11, and titled \u201cMoving Forward With Integrity.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grasso noted that Moore, 39, was \u201cimmediately terminated\u201d after an internal investigation<\/a> was completed.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is absolutely no tolerance for this conduct at the University of Michigan. None,\u201d he wrote. \u201cI have been in close communication with the Board of Regents and we are united in committing to doing what is right. This breach of trust by Coach Moore is painful for many in our community, first and foremost, the individuals directly involved in this situation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe college football world was rocked by the abrupt firing of University of Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore on Wednesday, December 10 \u2014 and left even more stunned about what came next. Moore, 39, was terminated on Wednesday after two seasons as the head coach of the Wolverines after the school found \u201ccredible evidence\u201d that [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The president continued, \u201cOur swift and decisive action reflects the University\u2019s staunch commitment to a campus culture of respect, integrity and accountability. All of the facts here must be known, so the University\u2019s investigation will continue.\u201d<\/p>\n

The university announced on Wednesday, December 10, that Moore was let go shortly after the football coach was arrested for \u201cattacking\u201d a woman at her home. Moore was accused of stalking<\/a> the individual \u201cfor months.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven the nature of the allegations, the need to maintain the integrity of the investigation, and its current status at this time, we are prohibited from releasing additional details,\u201d a statement from the Pittsfield Township Police Department read. \u201cFurther details regarding the incident will be released as soon as possible.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moore has been held at the Washtenaw County Jail and is expected to be arraigned on Friday, December 12. No charges have been filed against Moore at the time of publication.<\/p>\n

While Moore has not addressed the accusations, Michigan appointed associate head coach Biff Poggi to take over Moore\u2019s position as the Michigan Wolverines gear up<\/a> for the Citrus Bowl on December 31.<\/p>\n
