Jelly Roll<\/b> is opening up about the moment he realized his weight and addiction were damaging the people he loved most \u2014 and how that realization pushed him to transform his life.<\/span><\/p>\n During the December 10 episode of the <\/span>Joe Rogan Experience<\/span><\/i><\/a>, the singer told <\/span>Joe Rogan <\/b>that he \u201crealized then how much my addiction had been hurting this family, how much that my sex life with my wife was horrible.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cDude, I married a f\u2013kin\u2019 big-t-tty, blonde, beautiful woman, dawg. I married the kind of woman that makes you smile when you\u2019re crying, Joe. And I couldn\u2019t even get aroused I was so big. I was having to play Twister to have sex\u2014left foot here, right foot in the X. \u2018Are we in there yet? Tell me if you feel something.\u2019 It was bad.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n The realization extended to his relationship with his son as well. \u201cI think about my son,\u201d he said. \u201cMy brother would have to go throw football with him. I was too big to throw the football. I was like, \u2018That\u2019s what my addiction has done to these people.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n That moment of clarity propelled the singer to commit to real change. He promised his family he would start exercising beginning with a simple walk.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m done lying to y\u2019all and I\u2019m done lying to me,\u201d he recalled telling them. \u201cI told y\u2019all I was going to go do this walk and I\u2019m going to do this walk.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n When he returned from that first attempt, he found his family waiting for him.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m coming up the driveway to the hill and all my family is out there, cheering me on, clapping, hands up,\u201d he shared. \u201cI\u2019d done nothing but lie to them for years about this weight\u2026 They had every reason not to go out there and cheer me on. That was the moment where I was like, \u2018Damn.\u2019\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n From there, everything changed. \u201cI never thought I\u2019d lose this weight, dude,\u201d he told Rogan. \u201cDude, I feel great, Joe. I feel really, really good, dude.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n In May 2024, Jelly Roll completed <\/span>his first 5K<\/span><\/a>, the 2 Bears 5K, alongside his wife, <\/span>Bunnie Xo<\/b>. The 3.1-mile race marked a major milestone: in January, he \u201ccouldn\u2019t walk a mile.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Reflecting on the emotional finish, he said, \u201cSo the fact that we got three point whatever it was done today, I feel really, really good about it. I left here feeling really motivated.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Training for the race in 2024 helped kickstart <\/span>major changes<\/span><\/a> for the singer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n After finishing the 2 Bears event, he told <\/span>Entertainment Tonight<\/span><\/i><\/a> that he\u2019d shed \u201c50 to 70-something pounds,\u201d adding, \u201cI got to double check again \u2014 it was a lot of weight.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n In mid April 2024, while still deep in training, he told <\/span>People<\/span><\/i><\/a> he was \u201cdoing 2 to 3 miles a day, four to six days a week,\u201d along with sauna sessions, cold plunges, and eating healthier.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been really kicking a**, man,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m probably down 70-something pounds.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI was thinking, I plan on losing another 100, 100-and-something,\u201d he continued. \u201cIf I feel this good down this weight, man, I can only imagine what I\u2019m going to feel like by the time I go on tour.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n In an August 2025 video shared by the <\/span>NFL\u2019s Tennessee Titans<\/span><\/a>, Jelly Roll revealed that he had officially \u201clost 200 pounds.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n In an <\/span>April 2025 interview<\/span><\/a> with <\/span>Jimmy Kimmel<\/b>, the late-night show host asked how the star has been dropping the pounds, and Jelly Roll admitted the truth isn\u2019t flashy.<\/span><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been thinking of ways to make it sound cool, but I can\u2019t,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m eating a lot of protein, vegetables and walking.
