Jennifer Lawrence<\/strong><\/a> and Josh Hutcherson<\/strong><\/a> are returning to the arena!<\/p>\n The Hunger Games actors will be making an appearance in the upcoming film The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping<\/em>. According to The Hollywood Reporter, both actors will reprise their original roles \u2014 Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen and Hutcherson as Peeta Mellark \u2014 likely appearing in a flash-forward. At the end of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay \u2014 Part 2<\/em> (2015), Katniss and Peeta were married with children.<\/p>\n Sunrise on the Reaping<\/em> is adapted from Suzanne Collin<\/strong>s\u2019 2025 novel and marks the second prequel in the franchise, following 2023\u2019s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes<\/em>. The story takes place 24 years before the first Hunger Games and 40 years after the events of The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, focusing on Haymitch Abernathy during the 50th Hunger Games, years before he becomes the mentor seen in the original films.<\/p>\n While it\u2019s unclear exactly how Lawrence and Hutcherson\u2019s cameo will look like, book readers will know that their beloved characters appear alongside Haymitch in the epilogue.<\/p>\n Woody Harrelson\u2019s character is central to the plot of the upcoming prequel, with Joseph Zada set to star as his younger self. Alongside Zada, Jesse Plemons<\/strong> is cast as Plutarch Heavensbee, and Ralph Fiennes<\/strong> takes on a younger version of President Snow.<\/p>\n Sunrise on the Reaping also stars Elle Fanning<\/strong> as a younger version of Effie Trinket and Kieran Culkin<\/strong> as TV host Caesar Flickerman. Kelvin Harrison Jr.<\/strong>, Glenn Close<\/strong>, Maya Hawke<\/strong>, Mckenna Grace<\/strong>, Billy Porter<\/strong>, Whitney Peak<\/strong>, Ben Wang<\/strong>, Molly McCann<\/strong>, Iona Bell<\/strong> and Percy Daggs IV<\/strong> round out the all-star cast.<\/p>\n Hutcherson shared his excitement about the project during a November interview with Variety,<\/em> noting that he only discovered the epilogue chapter when Sunrise on the Reaping was published earlier this year. \u201cI would love to be back on set with Francis, with Jen, with Liam, with Woody,\u201d he said. \u201cIt would not take any convincing at all. I\u2019d be there in a heartbeat.\u201d<\/p>\n When asked directly about appearing in the film, Hutcherson added, \u201cThat would be a dream come true. Do dreams come true? Sometimes. Sometimes not.
